If it had been old, I would have perhaps let this slide, but the sample is pretty fresh. roder60 (1028), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Jul 6, 2005 Pours a thick jet black with a miniscule amount of tan fizz on top. Aroma is very potent and delicious: coffee, chocolate, roasted nuts, and brown sugar. Flavor is a sweet creamy coffee which dissapates quickly into a watery finish. Overall, I was expecting a lot due to the great aroma, but the taste itself was way too thin and bland. jon112981 (327), Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA

Smells of chocolate, coffee and a very sweet something. The taste was a little watery at first but the familiar porter flavor prevails. A sweeter porter than usual but still a good one. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jun 29, 2005 22 oz. brown bomber bottle. No freshness date seen anywhere. Poured out a solid dark brown, with a short lived mocha colored head. Aromas are of vanilla, molasses, burnt sugar, roasted coffee beans, and slight malts. Some earthiness to the aromas & flavors as well. Tastes are of roasted coffee beans, some vanilla, and an oaky character. Thin body, thin mouthfeel. Not the best porter I ever had. biz82 (1328), austin, Texas, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 29, 2005 Nice thick tan head on black. Some lactic caramel chocolate aroma. Body is slightly lacking. Flavor elements are good but don’t quite come together. Could use some aroma hops. Not bad but maybe could be sharpened up. Styles (1653), Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jun 28, 2005 Courtesy of Pailhead. Pours black with no head. Aroma and flavor are straight bitter black coffee. Finishes with a sweet aftertaste. Again dissapointed by these guys. CaptainCougar (5520), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 25, 2005 Pours a nearly opaque dark brown with a frothy tan head and good lacing. Aroma is roasty and caramely with good dark chocolatey presence. Body has a mild sense of tartness with a dry roasty finish. A well-balanced, drinkable porter that could be a little sweeter. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 20, 2005 This one had a strong aroma and was thin and tasty. I didn’t expect that from such a dark beer. I sense a bit of a roasted element here of coffee and chocolate tones. I definately taste the hops but its not very bitter or overpowering in any way.
