Black with big head that dissipates quickly. Big aroma of molasses, soy, chocolate and espresso. Taste starts off innocently enough, with some bitter chocolate and significant soy. Finishes with too much metallic bitterness. Thin; this is too "extreme" to be a porter, but too weak to be an imperial stout. Does that make any sense? No? Good. Ugh.

Poured a very dark brown with a tan head. Aroma was mainly of chocolate and caramel. Flavor was also pretty sweet, mainly of chocolate, maybe some toffee and cappacino

Poured very dark, almost black, with a light tan head that retained well and left some lacing. Smell had a small amount of roastiness, semi-sweet, a bit of hops as well. Taste had some roastiness, noticeable, but not plentiful. There was some sweetness, lactose, and some bitter, hoppy flavors as well. Mouthfeel was on the lighter side of medium and carbonation was on the higher end. Good drinkability, I could probably stand to have a few of these, even at 7 percent.

Bottle courtesy tpd975. Pours a very dark clear brown with crimson highlights and a one finger tan head that fades to a ring and leaves some spotty lacing. Aroma of green hops, slight roast, molasses, and dark fruit. Taste is roasted malt, chocolate, green hops, spicy yeast, and molasses. Medium thin mouthfeel with a moderate amount of bitterness and smooth alcohol. Very good.

Bottled, pours dark brown, almost black ,with a tiny tan head. Aroma is a terrific mocha scent (little heavier on the coffee) and a tad bit of alcohol. Flavor is about the same, but not as strong as the aroma. It is really tingly and lively in the mouth early, but becomes fairly smooth as it warms. Pretty average overall, but nothing disappointing.

Transfering from tasting notes. Bottle. Dark brown pour with a small off white head. Smell of some chocolate and malt. Dry flavor of dark malt and some mild hops.

22oz from Carytown Wine and Beer (RIP). This is one of those brews that, in my opinion, gives Weyerbacher an inconsistent reputation. A fairly thick pour, oily and dark brown, with a faint tan head. Somewhat standard aroma of chocolate malts and roasts, but the taste was a bit dry and chalky, with very little of the molasses. Thin body and not a solid enough porter to begin with.

Bottle from Market Street Wine Shop Downtown. Pours dark brown with a small head and good lacing. Roasted malt, chocolate, whisky aroma. Thin and odd taste. Coffee and roasted malt with a grape-like sweetness. Interesting. 7/3/6/4/13
