Taste is very much like the Old Heathen imperial stout , with less alcohol and hops. A decent drinking porter, but not unique in any way. Sampled at the Weyerbacher Brewery in South Easton, PA. melvin980 (184), Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 11, 2007 Maybe this bottle is off? Not quite sure, I’ll rerate at some point. Dark brown with an average thin tan head. Subdued roast. A fruity tartness. A small chocolate. Light. A little fizzy. A bit thin. Tart?!?! A bit roasty up front. Acidic. A bit like cola. Fruity. Lingering roasty acidity. Relatively clean, but not to my liking. Maybe infected? Dunno. b33r (363), Cleveland, Ohio, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 6, 2007 Pours black into a stem glass. Medium sized mocha head quickly recedes, but holds steady at 1/4 inch. Licorice and burnt molasses aromas. Lightly carbonated with smooth licorice upfront, turning to a sour and bitter metallic finish. iowaherkeye (1856), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 3, 2007 22oz bottle, no date from Mystery Swap 2.0, I can’t remember from who--DocLock maybe? Deep brown with a 1/2 finger tan head, fair retention. Scorched raisins, roasted malts, bittersweet molasses, and some unsweetened chocolate consist of the aroma. There is an off sour tang in the aroma that I can’t shake that makes me think infection. The flavor still has that tang, but it seems a little more muted and doesn’t necessarily seem all that horrible, so maybe this was an intended flavor. There is also a bit of added soy sauce. Ashy finish with bitterness topping out at a 3. Carbonation is low, and the body is medium. Not that impressive. kp (8399), Woodstock, Georgia, USA
