Commercial Description:
Blasphemy is our award winning QUAD aged in bourbon barrels. But not overaged, so we've picked up gentle vanilla oaky notes which complement rather than supercede the complex qualities that already make QUAD such an incredible beer.

Sampled from 22-oz bomber during Darkness Day 2009 in Brooklyn Center, MN. Pours a hazy amber colored brew with a thin off-white head that quickly dissipates clean. Aroma of mostly vanilla, Belgian yeast, some bourbon, and dark pitted fruits. Taste is full bodied, some alcohol presence with flavors of golden grain malt, vanilla, bourbon a hint of lemon zest and a touch of Belgian yeast. Finish has a fruity and vanilla aftertaste that slowly disappears.

12oz. Bottle 2007 Vintage. Has a deep ruby color in the snifter with absolutely no head and a fair amount of yeast particulates. Big impressive nose with lots of caramel, a bit of vanilla and some subtle Bourbon notes. Flavor is similar with a huge malty sweetness that is followed by a mellow whiskey soaked wood character. Unbelievably it still tastes a little hot after over two years in the bottle. Mouthfeel is definitely thick and slightly syrupy, but I don’t think it detracts from this style of beer. If it wasn’t at least a little syrupy I’d probably complain that it was too thin to support the 11.8%. Finish is smooth, with a quick Bourbon hit and a touch of alcohol warmth. This beer improves dramatically with age and I think many of the poor reviews were from bottles that were consumed before the brew had a chance to age properly. That being said I had to downgrade a little for the fact that there is still some alcohol heat even after two years. Overall it is pretty good stuff!

22oz bottle from grape & gourmet. pours a slightly hazy amber with a very thin, tan head and light lacing. aroma is very nice with big fruit notes of tart plum, apricot, green apple, and lemon zest with hints of belgian yeast, sweet vanilla, and booze. flavor is quite good as well with more tart fruit notes of apple, raisin, and red plum with spicy, belgian yeast, sweet caramel, toffee, and big, woody boubon notes. palate is medium bodied and a bit sticky with a long, sweet, oaked bourbon finish. overall, an interesting and quite tasty brew.

Fruity and spicy quad. Maybe some plum. But it followed Black Butte and Port 3 (and a bunch of other beers) so it had serious competition. Nothing special.

Bottle. Pours unclear amber red with a beige head. Fruity sweet aroma with bourbon and booze. The flavor is rather sweet with loads of bourbon, fruit, vanilla, almonds, a spicy hint, and a light lingering alcohol burn. Decent.

Bottled:
Pours copper red with a slight haze and a small-ish head. Toffee, bourbon and oak on the nose. Flavour is loads of oak, loads of bourbon and a great deal of booze. I’m not too keen on oak flavour, don’t like bourbon and realy don’t like the taste of alcohol. I don’t think this beer was designed for me.
