Commercial Description:
Blasphemy is our award winning QUAD aged in bourbon barrels. But not overaged, so we've picked up gentle vanilla oaky notes which complement rather than supercede the complex qualities that already make QUAD such an incredible beer.

Bottle courtesy of some jerk. Copper colored beer with darker red running throughout. Medium sized light brown head. Decent retention and spotty lacing. Nose is boozy, dark fruits (cherries, plums, figs), molasses, woody/earthy notes and vanilla bean. The phenol heat is dropped from the flavor composition, leaving a sweet, viscous fruity syrup behind, with wood and vanilla backing. Great mouthfeel on this one, they nailed it. I was prepared to hate this one, with all of the negative comments I had heard about it. But it actually turned out to be a pretty good beer.

Bottle. Poured a clear copper color with a thin tan head that rapidly diminished to a ring. Port-like alcohol aroma with some Belgian candi sugar and some light fruit and oak. Boozy, candi entry with some caramel and undertones of fruit and light drying oak. Slick, almost no carbonation. Overall, not a bad beer, just not my favorite style. Also a bit hot.

22oz bottle. Pours hazy amber color with off white head. Aroma sweet, spicey and caramel. Taste spicey, bourbon and oak with dry finish.

2005 Bottle courtesy CigarCityBrew. Pours a clear copper with a one finger off-white head. Aroma of bourbon, caramel, oak, dark fruit, and vanilla. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium mouthfeel with a mild amount of bitterness and smooth alcohol. Very good.

Amber color, white head and decent retention. Oak, bourbon, vanilla, and dark fruits in the nose. Bourbon, oak, cherry, and a little bit of vinous character in the taste. Lighter side of medium bodied and light carbonation. I’d try this again for sure.

Pours a murky brown with slightly offwhite, miniscule head. Strong alcohol phenols coated in syrupy sweet vanilla oak character with some tarter fruits lingering underneath. Peach and pear pop up on the sticky palate, more bourbon alcohol up front, ending somewhat dry but still sweet. Kind of gives you a headache after a while.

Poured a nut brown with little to no head. Smells of oak and alcohol. The oak taste has a lot of influence on the over all flavor, really adds a whiskey-like taste to the beer that I can’t say I was overly fond of. The alcohol is heavy in this, not at all camoflauged. I think it added a few hairs to my chest. It was okay. I had no desire to have another one, and I doubt I would seek this one out or recommend it to anyone. I wouldn’t steer anyone away from this, but nor would I talk it up. Serving type: bottle

a very strong and sweet beer, a bit too much body and not enough flaovr in my opinion.
