Pours an interesting shade of orange with a thin white head that leaves good lacing. Aroma is oak, bourbon, vanilla, apricots, funk, and dough. Flavor is more of the same with the oak and bourbon flavors really taking the front seat and leading the way to a dry tart wine like finish. Mouthfeel is sticky but dry kind of like a mean case of cottonmouth with a medium body. Overall I felt this was a solid beer that really benefited from the added flavors of the bourbon barrel aging. kmweaver (2474), Sebastopol, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 16, 2008 22oz bottle, sampled alongside their Quad. Pours a slightly darker, orange-amber color; similarly heavy viscosity; light tan head with solid fine-bubbled lacing. Lots of warming bourbon notes enliven the aroma: the cola and dried fruits still show through prominently, but the sweet, sticky vanilla-laden bourbon note adds an extra layer; still a bit messy. Full mouthfeel: toasty, oaky bourbon (vanilla, touch of alcoholic warmth) and cola and dried fruits; the added barrel aging isn’t overly forceful, but it also isn’t enough to cover the fact that there’s a one-dimensional quad underneath; reasonably tasty, but nothing exceptional. Medium finish: a lot more bready than the original, with some toasty malts and nilla wafers; dry. ReademNwheat (174), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | May 10, 2008 This is a big beer from Weyerbacher. Flavors of dark fruits, brown sugar, light oak, yeast and some spice notes. Alcohol peaks through abit in the finsh. Full mouthfeel. emerica56 (583), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Apr 17, 2008 Pours a dark yet clear amber and redish color with a small head. You can really tell it is an quad just by the nose with all that berry funk and mass ammounts of phenols. The flavor is very intence with a lot of character and texture. The booze is not well hidden in this. The finish is very tart with fruit and bready malt and some bitter hops. biznizness (948), Mooresville, North Carolina, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 9, 2008 I would say that this is a strong beer in Weyerbacher bourbon series. Not as good as Heresey, probably not quite as good as Insanity, def better than Prophecy. That sucked. shintriad (698), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 8, 2008 This was definitely a blast for me! What have we got here: oaken nose, banana, butterscotch, yeast, dark malts, some alcohol. Finish is complex with biting sourness, banana again. Bit too strong in my opinion, but damn tasty. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 5, 2008 A hazy brownish color with some reddish hues. A small fizz, but not really any head. Nose of cherries, alcohol, and some definite vanilla oak character. A nice caramel as well. The taste is a little strong with the alcohol. A nice sweet flavor. Some fruity esters and a yeasty spice. The finish is a very warming alcohol. A little apple as well. The texture is a fuller body with some oily characteristics. Immy (1912), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA
| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | Apr 5, 2008 Bomber. I’ll be honest - I shy away from Weyerbacher in general, as I have had bad experiences with their beers, but usually their oak aged stuff is pretty good, somehow. Anyway, this is hazed orange amber with a big white head. Sweet, fruity nose, caramel and light Bourbon. Some spiciness emerges as it warms, and it gets a bit boozy. Dammit, I should have known better... the flavor sucks. Far too much Bourbon - like tropical fruit soaked in it. WAY too boozy - it murders the marginal Quad beneath it. Very woody and dry. This is a near drain pour. Screw you, Weyerbacher, I’m done with you.
