Should not have made this my last beer on a heavy drinking night. Knocked me on my ass. Even so I can still remember how much I enjoyed it ogglethorp (890), Ohio, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 16, 2007 Bottle: Ruby, light head and lacing. Nose of alcohol, cherry, pitchy wood, fruit, lots o’ booze and fusels. Banana nut bread in the flavor, clean wood, more fruit, very pleasant malt sweetness. Clean, ethanol and ester finish, fresh and strong. Good, lacking grace though. HogTownHarry (4026), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 16, 2007 Bottle (12oz). Via trade with Zathrus13. I’ve been sitting on this for a while, and today - snowstorm - seems as good as any to crack it. Deep mostly clear copper pour, average fizzy beige head. Definitely bourbon barrel in the aroma - oak and vanilla, but treacly caramel malt and sweet spice/yeast too - pretty decent - oh, a fair bit of alc too. The taste has way more up-front alcohol burn to it, the yeast and malt are a little further back, and oak resin becomes more dominant as it warms. Fairly light, oily mouthfeel, strong alcohol and oak are the lingering characteristics ... perhaps a little too "bourbon" and not quite enough malt body to cover the booze, but drinkable. jmuhops (663), Winchester, Virginia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 13, 2007 Pours amber with a small white head. Intense aroma of liqueur-soaked raisins and prunes, with a nice little vanilla backbone. The oak seems to have softened the overly-alcoholic aroma of the Quad. The flavor’s softened quite a bit, as well. There’s still that big raisin flavor, almost like raisins with noble rot. Candi sugar sweetness, too. The oak rolls out like soft tannins at the end, finishing as a dry vanilla which hides the alcohol very well. Great use of oak to improve a normally below-average beer. swoopjones (1925), Buffalo, New York, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 12, 2007 Bottle from Slob - Thanks! Pours a deep copper reminiscent of cognac with a smaller beige head. Aroma is strong with vanilla, bourbon, and oak. Even hints of bananas. Nice warming presence as the flavors penetrate. Oaky, vanilla, and bits of spice. Lots of bourbon. Glad to have tried a barrel aged quad.
