Aroma of unrefined sugar with some light bourbon notes. Taste is extremely sweet, probably too sweet for my taste buds with some light vanilla and bourbon notes. Body is about average with some good carbonation. Nice application of the barrel but the base beer is just too sweet for me – interesting experiment. Papsoe (15091), Frederiksberg, Denmark

Fat vinous aroma of overripe fruit and some yeast. Fairly full in body, sweetish caramel flavours and overripe fruit. Touches of vanilla and wood and a very warming alcohol in the finish. Dry and lightly bitter finish. A nice one. 280907 Emil (6074), Copenhagen, Denmark
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Sep 30, 2007 Bottle. A hazy orange beer with a medium beige head. The aroma is of yeast, fruit, bourbon, wood and alcohol, so is the taste, light sweet. Medium to full body with a sweet warming finish. Interresting and damn good! jwdevalue (158), Neptune, New Jersey, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 23, 2007 Very oaked aroma and taste. Taste is slightly hot with the oakiness of the barrel aging accentuating those characteristics. The sweet maltiness that is trademark of this style is present, if not underwhelming. That is not necessarily a bad thing, as the oak does dominate the brew and cut the sweetness. Definitely can taste the vanilla in the beer, but that’s about it. Not overly complex and not a bad beer, but not a beer for those that do not love oak barrel aging. Naven (876), Poway, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 22, 2007 Bottle. Received this in a couple different trades, thank you to each of you. Aroma of bourbon, oak, vanilla & bubblegum. Flavor is more bubblegum, vanilla and a rather unpleasant sour finish. Super hot finish as well. This is a strong ass beer. Im a little woozy after drinking this. I can’t get past the sourness I detect from the barrel aging, or the heat from the alcohol. Had these two flaws not been present, im sure this would be a 4+ beer. I think this one needs a little more age. Luckily, I have another bottle or two, which I will revisit another day. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 18, 2007 Bottle. Aroma light vanilla oak and some bourbon. Poured a dark cherry amber with a light tan head. Flavors, an interesting mix of banana, raisin and some bourbonesque oak, though aft tounged raisiness really lingers. Palate is creamy just a tinge to the hot side due to alc content but not overpowering. Overall, a good sipper. jeffc666 (1893), Fairfax, Virginia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 12, 2007 Clear dark amber with a pleasing light tan head. The aroma is loaded with cyanide, umm I mean almonds. Also good bits of vanilla. The flavor is full of oak and bourbon, so much so that the yeasty fruitiness that makes a Quad a quad is almost non-existent. Smooth creamy mouthfeel. Not bad but the barrelness overtakes the belgianess.
