Commercial Description:
Blasphemy is our award winning QUAD aged in bourbon barrels. But not overaged, so we've picked up gentle vanilla oaky notes which complement rather than supercede the complex qualities that already make QUAD such an incredible beer.

Clear dark amber with a pleasing light tan head. The aroma is loaded with cyanide, umm I mean almonds. Also good bits of vanilla. The flavor is full of oak and bourbon, so much so that the yeasty fruitiness that makes a Quad a quad is almost non-existent. Smooth creamy mouthfeel. Not bad but the barrelness overtakes the belgianess.

(Bottle) Pours a deep reddish body with a spare beige head. Aroma of oak, caramel, dark fruit, vanilla extract, and alcohol. Flavor of oak, toffee, raisins, and bourbon.

Thanks to Blake for sharing the bottle! Poured clear coppery-golden with a short cap of deep beige head.. translucent with a cool golden glimmer to it. The aroma was of sweet, deeper caramel and oaky notes.. sharper liquory alcohol notes emerge and detract from the enjoyment.. subtler dark fruits in there as well. Oaky sourness, dark fruits, and aged caramel provide the bulk of the flavor with sharper boozy notes and more oak sours extending through the finish.. some almost banana-ey esters give a nice yeasty accent.. a bit sharp overall, but tasty. About medium-bodied with decent flow, but again was sharp at times.

Pours to a transparent dark amber body with a nice carbonation in the body and a really dense but very thin creamy off-white head. The aroma is very strong. Notes of bananas and lots of esters. Dry oak, raisins, sweet sugary malts. The flavors are decently blended. Sweet malts, nice yeasty esters, bananas, oaken barrels, candied pineapple. The palate is alcoholic, hot, sweet, and medium bodied.

Pours a dark amber, not much carbonation in this bomber. Aroma is of vanillas, bourbon, a bit of malts and hops. Flavour is smooth, hard malts, cherry, vanilla, a bit of hops. Hugely complex beer, alcohol is well accorded with rest of ale. Quad comes across boldly, alcohol can come across as bold at end, but is manageable. Not bad, could be a bit more refined.

Pours a light golden color with a reddish tint. Slight head on the pour, but nothing that sticks around. Smell is alcohol and belgian sugars. Taste is, wow, very hot. This thing is like drinking a straight shot. This definitely needs some time to calm down. This beer will absolutely light you up! If you can get past the alcohol, there is a nice Quad underneath there, but God help you if you can find it. Full and complex on the mouthfeel. This is a beer that the whole time you’re drinking it, there’s no mistaking that you’re going to be f’d up. This needs to be put down and cellared for a very long time.

Pours a slightly hazy amber-orange color. Produces a 1/2" off-white tight head. Little lacing noted. First whiff is that of bourbon-soaked raisins and fresh cut oak. Lots of vapor-like alcohol fills the nose. Some subtle fruity aromas of cherry, apple, peach come through along with hints of brown sugar and toasted malts. Mouthfeel is slightly syrupy and creamy. A much subtler carbonation than expected from a Belgian style ale. Quite full, chewy and enjoyable though. Flavor starts out sweet with fruity notes of apples, cherries, vanilla bean, oranges and light brown sugar. As the beer is swallowed the alcohol really kicks in being a bit solvent-like and hot. However, pleasant notes of bourbon, wood, spices and faint hops come through in the long finish. Overall a bit coarse and would probably do well with a few years of aging, but good stuff and worth looking for.

Name: Blasphemy!
Date: 04/14/2007
Mode: Bottle

clear dark brown, wispy beige head, caramel and chocolate aroma with a huge overpowering bourbon character that adds lots of alcoholic fumes, aroma eventually settles down a bit after an hour or two to hot caramel, creamy body, rich hot caramel flavor, lots of fruity sweetness, light spicyness, bourbon character blends in well, turned out better than expected and better than the aroma would indicate,
