Commercial Description:
Blasphemy is our award winning QUAD aged in bourbon barrels. But not overaged, so we've picked up gentle vanilla oaky notes which complement rather than supercede the complex qualities that already make QUAD such an incredible beer.

Bottle. Aroma of weak, bad bourbon and super sweet malt. Flavor stronger with bourbon, and unfortunately it continues to come across as not very high quality bourbon, quite the opposite really. Even more oppressive is the unbelievable saccharine quality of the beer, beyond the term syrupy. Far from a winner.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange with a small white head. Aroma of bourbon and sweet malt, but strongly bourbon. Flavor of candy corn, sweet malt, and LOTS of bourbon. Very boozy and hard to get through. Ick. This is bad...not reminiscent in any way of an abt/quad. 5/4/4/2/8/ (2.3/5)

12 oz bottle served in a clear pint glass. This beer smelled like a mild Jack Daniels ... extremely bourbon. The taste is a complex bourbon. It’s very hard to explain this beer. I taste many tasty bases, yet the bourbon put those on the back burner. An excellent beer, but it is definitely to be enjoyed in small amounts, or with robust foods.

Enjoyed from a 12oz bottle in a tulip glass. Pours a nice copper color. As mentioned in many of the other ratings, I noticed some yeast floating around, but I don’t really count this as a negative. Any bottle-conditioned beer is subject to some particle floatation. It’s good for you, anyway. The nose is one of the high points of this beer. I got notes of sllightly burnt plums, prunes, and raisons, along with a little bit of malt complexity. The palate was not as complex and inviting as the nose. Flavors of more dark fruits and raisons come through, along with some alcohol at the back end. No notes of hops were really detectable, as one would expect. Realistically, the notes of alcohol would undoubtedly fade is the sample was aged. The finish was sweet, but still very drinkable. Overall, it isn’t St. Bernardus Abt. 12, but along with Victory 12, I think it is one of the better Quads made in the United States.

Pours a dark amber into the glass, with TONS of yeasty "floaties" that hang in the glass. A bourbon-esque nose predominates, with some amaretto to back. The flavors are of bourbon, coconut, burnt earth, wood and some light "sour" mix ingredients. This is almost a mixed drink in a bottle, with a hollow mouthfeel and extremely alcoholic bite in the finish. This accompanies a coconut/sour-mix effervescence. The mouthfeel is sticky, of liquor, very reminiscent of an "Old-Fashioned". A decent Abt/Quadrupel, this lacks the "top-tier" aspect by being a bit more unilateral and "boozy" by nature, swallowing the mouthfeel in a hollow, peppering, slick whiskey "feel". If I’m honest, it tries to be much more of a cognac nightcap than a traditional "beer". Decent; however, unusual to rate.

Bottle from coldbrewky. Dark reddish body with thinnest head. Sour nose. Very rich and sweet flavors. I can make out dark berries, vanilla and a chocolaty finish. There’s some Baileys too before it really warms up and the ABV kicks in real nice. Quite complex and an enjoyable drink. Thanks again Steve!

bottle - Pours hazy amber with a medium sized head. The aroma is heavy on the bourbon with some oak and sweet caramel malt. Flavori s also big on the bourbon. There are also very sweet malt flavors with some dark fruit accents. The nearly 12% abv is readily apparent in the finish without being too hot. This full bodied brew has a sweet, lingering finish. I haven’t sampled quads lately, but I’d say that while quite good, it’s a little lacking for what can be a very complex style. Perhaps the bourbon overpowers some of the complexity. I have Weyerbacher’s regular quad too so I’ll have to see how that compares when I get to it.

Thanks to HogTownHarry. Appearance: Red brown, tons of flecks, medium white head. Aroma: Burnt caramel, creme brule, lots of perfume, trifle, strawberry, pineapple, just a real feast for the nostrils! Upon warming the aroma has dark winter fruit notes. Flavour: Huge wood flavour, winter fruits, bourbon/whiskey, lots of alcohol, very hot, concentrated pineapple, mango and citrus. Long alcohol - malt finish. Huge beer. Lovely.
