Commercial Description:
Blasphemy is our award winning QUAD aged in bourbon barrels. But not overaged, so we've picked up gentle vanilla oaky notes which complement rather than supercede the complex qualities that already make QUAD such an incredible beer.

(draft) Crystal clear amber body with beige head. Aroma is medium sweet, caramel, oak, cherry, some alcohol. Taste is moderately sweet, cherry, caramel, some berry, light oak, alcohol. Medium-full body, some stickiness.

Shimmering dark copper, light tan creamy head. Nose held warm notes of golden raisin, pear, vanilla bean, toffee, soft oak, and touches of bourbon. Boozy caramel raisin flavors carry further notes of vanilla oak, fig, and light earthy peppery hops. Full bodied, moderate carbonation, dry, warming, dark fruity finish. Very good now, but age will round this out even more. Could be a real gem in 1-2 years..

Pours a surprisingly light color. Red in fact. Small white head. Some sour cherry and bourbon aroma. Flavor is dominated by bourbon notes with just a bit of dark fruits coming through. A decent slow sipper but far from being anything like any of the Quads I’ve previously had. For one thing, it just doesn’t have that super high carbonation levels that bottle conditioned belgians do. For another thing, it tastes way too boozy for a quad. This should be in that all encompassing "American Strong Ale" category.

Pours out of the bottle with slighty no head. Copper look to it with a descent lacing that goes from the rim, down. Smell is of sugar, with a spicy rum smell. Tase is high in alcohol with a herbal aftertaste that seems somewhat minty, and vanilla flavor.

Slightly hazy, dark, copper/red body with nearly no head at all. Pungent, sweet - syrupy, sticky, malty - aroma, with some raisins and figs. The flavor is biting: filled with phenols - it has a strong alcohol burn that really detracts from the drinking experience. Eh.

Medium copper/amber with a small, fizzy head - sweet aroma, with raw cane sugar, strong fruitiness (cherry, strawberry), light vanilla and bourbon - strongly alcoholic and astringent - bright fruity esters, some mild grainy flavors - a strange, almost citric twang and mild herbal notes near the finish - very slight bourbon in the background - finishes with even stronger alcohol flavor than it starts with - another barrel-aged booze bomb from Weyerbacher - and 8.99 a bomber!? - why do I bother?

Pour is a nice ruby red with initially a nice head that quickly diminishes to a ring of white cream. Aroma is sweet alcohol, and a touch of maybe fruit? Flavor is sweet fruit and alcohol. There is a little tang on the bottom side of the tongue. Finish is dry.

Bottle shared with blankboy, mds, jerc & mabel - courtesy of mds. Bright amber with a wispy head. Aroma of booze and bubblegum, with a faint spiciness. Flavour is overpoweringly sweet, woody, boozy - just really unbalanced and unappealing. And the label sucks, too.
