Nose is caramel malts, molasses, light fruits, grass, booze. Taste is light caramel malts, rich sweet fruits, light grassy hops, finishes sweet and boozey. Thick texture with moderate carbonation. A nicely balanced barleywine that is a bid lacking in flavor for the style. MrChopin (667), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA

Malty and sweet, this is alcoholic to the point of medicine like their Raspberry IS, and worse, quite watery. Not very impressive. ucusty (1908), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 31, 2008 Pours dark ruddy brown with a finger thick, cream colored head. The nose is maple, toffee and a bit of alcohol. The flavor is much the same, with a bit more earthy influence in the mid to finish. This one is a bit sweet as described, so share it with a few others. durhambeer (1223), Durham, USA

I’ll admit to being a relative novice to barley wines, having probably only tried under 10 of them, most of them American-style. This was quite pleasant, I thought; a good balance of malt and hops. Had that concentrated barley wine flavor, but was not overly alcoholic and didn’t let the hops dominate. Nice stewed fruit flavors (figs, apricots, raisins, dates). Pleasant caramel and toffee malt as well, and a creamy aftertaste. Would like to age a bit to see the evolution of this one. Imaena (259), Portland, Maine, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 27, 2008 12 oz bottle with Paul. Treid this right afte Old Crusty which might ahve affected my take on it. Pour was carmel amber with a very small head. Warm fell right off the bat with malty carmel and fruit notes. Lots of alcohol warmth as expected. Nice BW that I would try again. mcox90 (649), Wilton, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 24, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours a deep amber color with a small off white head. Heavy malt aroma with caramel and alcohol. Smooth, warm palate with low carbonation. Taste is dark fruits, figs, raisins, dates, plums and cherrys. Also, sugars, caramel and of coarse, alcoholl. This brew is a heavy hitter. dwyerpg (2545), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
