| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jul 26, 2008 This is standard weyerbacher. A little much alcohol, a little too unbalanced. This is not a great barly wine. Unlike the what the desciption says this is overly sweet. Sweet aroma and sweet flavor. Tastes like beer flavored syrup. I would not like barley wines if this was the first one I had. caesar (3034), Bunnik/Utrecht, Netherlands

Appearance: Pours a dark, reddish-brown body with a small, though sustaining, off-white head.
Smell: Sweet-smelling, malty, boozy aroma with a rich, syrup-soaked blend of dark fruits.
Taste: Lightly toasty caramel maltiness with a good dose of sweetness (along the lines of a sip of simply syrup). Very tiny hint of cocoa powder and banana bread. There’s a strong fruitiness tasting of sugared, sauteed figs. Slight earthy hop character and bitterness. Warming alcohol presence but nothing too glaring, mind you. Finishes sweet and boozey.
Mouthfeel: Medium-full body. Medium-low carbonation.
Drinkability: A predominately sweet, malty barleywine that I enjoyed fairly well. I have a few older bottles lurking the cellar that I’ll be sure to check on. phishpond417 (1953), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 21, 2008 Pours a clear bright amber colour with a very thin tan head. Head would be an over-statement. Not a whole lot of carbonation in this one, but that’s fine with me. The taste and appearance make up for that completely. Mouthfeel is very creamy and warm. Taste is very strong, flavor is excellent- high ABV that warms up your throat all the way to the belly. Rich carmel flavor. bierkoning (6084), La Tropica, Netherlands
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jul 21, 2008 Bottle @ DTS. Reddish amber color. Toffee and marzipan in the aroma. Alcoholic, perfumed flavor with marzipan and a hint of cherry. Disappointing.
