| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 1, 2008 Clear amber color with a tanish head that settles down to small patches and a thin ring around the glass. Aroma is caramel, woody with some alcohol surfacing. Much of the same in the flavor with the addition of sweet malts, toffee and some spiciness. Some alcohol shows towards the finish, although not as alcoholic as I was expecting. A solid barleywine. dkachur (2422), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA

Pours with a lot of microfloaties and some chunky floaties in an else clear copper body with a minimal beige head. Malty nose with beef-stock, caramel, fruits, pine and resin. Quite sweet in the mouth, alcohol evident but not pushing, beefstock, raisins and a little oxidation. Quite bitter, especially towards the finish. Considering the beer style, the mouthfeel is rather thin, but it’s a nice beer. (080412)
