Commercial Description:
At Weyerbacher, we prefer to brew things true to European style guidelines, so our barley wine is definitely on the malty side, without being overly sweet. Notes of date or perhaps fig on the palate follow a pleasurably malty aroma to your taste buds. The finish is warm and fruity, and begs for the next sip.

On tap at Redlight Redlight...Pours reddish brown w/ a slight tan head faded rather quick. The aromas were dark fruits (dates, figs, raisins), and the flavors were dominated by the sweetness you’d expect from said dark fruits. There was some spice thrown in midpalate, with that lasting sweet finish on the end. I noted as did dchmela that the BI was quite carbonated for a barleywine. Very smooth sipper...

My first experience with a barley wine. Supprisingly good kinda tasted like the wine at church, but better. A little sweet but well balanced. I think I will try some more barley wines.

On tap at Redlight. Really nice caramel brown pour with a thin tan head. Caramel apple, citrus hop aroma. Big malt, spicy hop taste. Much more carbonated than most barley wines. Very tasty, nice sippin BW. Smooth slightly sweet aftertaste.

Bottle. Pours a clear amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of caramel, sweet malt, and dark fruit. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium full mouthfeel with a moderate amount of bitterness, slightly warm alcohol, and light carbonation. Very good.

On tap at redlight. Poured a deep amber color with a small off white head. The aroma is of sweet malts, caramel, dark fruits, and a boozy smell. The flavor is really sweet with caramel, brown sugar, and sweet malts dominating the taste buds. The alcohol was present throughout and added sweetness and warmth. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and almost syrupy that finished sweet with some alcohol warmth. A pretty good barley wine especially considering the abv.
