Commercial Description:
At Weyerbacher, we prefer to brew things true to European style guidelines, so our barley wine is definitely on the malty side, without being overly sweet. Notes of date or perhaps fig on the palate follow a pleasurably malty aroma to your taste buds. The finish is warm and fruity, and begs for the next sip.

Aroma: mild, applelike, slightly sourish malt aroma, funky, hops, figs, chocolate.
Flavour: initially quite sweet. Good, balanced hoppy bitterness. Full-bodied, heavy dark malt-body... aftertaste of dried fruit & bitter hops.
Appearance: body is brownish turbid orange... nice. Pale yellowish fine-bubbled head quickly setting, only leaving some broken film & a rind on the glass.
Palate: nice, slightly slimy, fat. Moderate ’+’ carbonation.

Christmas party leftover. Dark brown amber pour with minimal settled tan head. Warm and a little fruity with a malts mix on the pallet. Noted the alcohol in the body along with the barley thickness. A little bitter sweet wine finish. I’m from Pa but never had this on tap, will look for it again next season.

This is on tap at Just Sports Bar and Grille. The look is a beautiful amber color with a head that lasts and an ok lacing. The smell is amazing. Just from the smell you can tell that its thick and high in alcohol. But its sweet and malty and a little fruity. Wow, it is a very thick and full bodied. You can really taste the fruitiness to it! Its great. For an 11.1 percent the alcohol is a little present but not much. Another home run for Weyerbacher!
