| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 10, 2008 Man this is true to the name. It will make you a blithering idiot if you drink more than 3. It has an aroma akin to a wine or a brandy. It’s appearance is a dark/red amber. It’s flavor is a cross between fig-malt-wine. Palate is crushing like vodka hitting the palate, it’s not bitter, but it has some alcohol flavor and finish. It’s not for everyone, but it’s potent. If you want to get wrapped with blistering smack face this is it. craftbeerdesign (768), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Feb 29, 2008 bottle. slight malty aroma with a touch of alcohol. pours a deep red with no head... very little carbonation. deep dark fruits, sweet malts and a touch of burning alcohol. Spicy on the tip of the palate, while smooth and soft on the sides. Not your typical American BW... next to no hops.... heavy on the malts. Good, but not my favorite by far... somewhat reminds me of Brown Shugga. Pastor (534), Maine, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Feb 29, 2008 On tap At the Pepperland café
Served in a sniffer it had a nice finger of off white head that goes quickly to lace on top of a reddish brown body
It had a wonderful nose fruity, rasiny, caramel and whiskey
Flavors of sweet dark fruit’s, molasses a slight alcohol warming, and a light hop (spice) bitter
Mouthfeel was medium to full with the warmth of the alcohol kicking in at the end
This is a sipper very easy to drink but the high abv will get you. This is one to end the evening with

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 28, 2008 sampled at kelly’s 2008 hell with the lid off. pours a cloudy red amber, with a thin off white head that quickly fades to a film. sweet earthy citrus hops smell. smoky burnt brown sugar taste that gave the impression of being similar to a roasted marshmallow, finished off with a hint of wood. sweet finish, with light bitterness, thick oily and sticky mouthfeel, fairly full body. not bad, but not outstanding. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 27, 2008 Pours a nice garnet-ruby with pretty much no head but nice lacing and bead. Nose is like rose, flowery and perfumy, with an underlying backbone of toffee malts and an alcoholic warmth. Slightly fruity and somewhat akin to cough syrup, with a similar thick body and lingering medicinal hop finish. Reminiscent of Old stock, another barleywine which probably needs a couple years to round out the flavors. keepersj12 (821), Sicklerville, New Jersey, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 18, 2008 Real nice. Nothing overpowering. Not too sweet. Nice and warming on the throat. Not as robust as some others but very drinkable. Cryotek (206), Pawtucket, Rhode Island, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Feb 17, 2008 Strong sweet aroma, fruity and very spicey smell also. Looks like a deep amber ale with maybe a slight brownish red tint. Very sweet taste, not spicey like the scent. Raisiny plum taste with a alcoholic caramel malt taste. Very warming, and quickly. Light sweet sticky feel. Almost tastes a little mediciney.
