Pours a deep reddish amber with a large light beige bubbly head with a solid creamy base. Aroma of biscuit, nutts and alcohol. Medium to full bodied that fills your mouth with a nice creminess and a good spot of carbonation and only slight alcohol warming. Big malty flavor of biscuit, slight hint of dark fruit and some alcohol. Once again a beer that is just average enought to be forgetable, and what ashame because it has one of the best names out there. Actually a perfect name for me after a few but they might want to change it to unintelligable blithering idiot. larsga (3000), Oslo, Norway

Sugary firm malty aroma with alcoholic caramel notes. Sweet tropical fruit and earthy caramel taste with chalky resiny notes. Nice! Big floral/fruity aroma with similar flavor. Huge malt presence with hints of honey, figs, orange. Great beer, as it warms the flavors really slam you. Thoroughly enjoyed this barley wine. glennmastrange (868), hobe sound, Florida, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 15, 2007 Bottle. Aroma starts with moderate notes of caramel, flowers and orange peel and a light note of leather, with grape, red wine, nutmeg, alcohol and solvent in the background. Head is creamy, off-white has fair lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is hazy red/brown. Flavor starts moderately sweet and finishes moderately sweet bitter and lightly acidic. Palate is medium to full, between creamy and syrupy and has a lively carbonation. It finishes dry without too much astringency. An okay beer, but it missed being a good barleywine by a few factors, the solvent smell being one of them. DeadGuyFrank (347), http://westchesterbeer.com, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Nov 15, 2007 Ripe, ripe fruit and a significant date and fig aroma; Barleywines are not for my palate and I found that bourbon, scotch, port fans tend to really enjoy them...that being said, I would recommend this to those barleywine fans. stangger (156), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 9, 2007 bottle poured into a snifter is a murky sunset chestnut brown in color with a thin layer of head as it is poured leaving light lacing on the beer. aroma of figs, honey, grain, caramel, vanilla, malt, and has a sweet spice thing going on. flavor is mid range in body, has a sweet heavy malt punch, the finish does have a warming to it between the alcohol and fruits. definitely a heavy hitter, good for sipping on a Friday night for sure.
