I liked the thick feel on the palate. As with most weyerbachers, and barelywines I’ve tried just a bit too oily for me. The finish was smooth with a little burn right at the end. The flavor improved as it warmed. What it didn’t do in flavor for me it made up for with appearance and aroma. swoopjones (1917), Buffalo, New York, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 25, 2007 Draught: Hard to discern aroma because of cigarettes in the bar. Smelled malty with notes of honey and brown sugar. Poured a copper/amber color with a small, dense, off-white head that lasted throughout. Clear. Not sparkling. Small lacing. Flavor is quite sweet. Tastes of alcohol, bourbon and brandy. Medium to full body. Soft carbonation. Short, sweet finish. Overall, I prefer a hoppier, more balanced Barley Wine. alexsdad06 (1096), Ohio, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 23, 2007 Bottle. Pours clear amber in color with a head that dissappears quickly. Aroma is sweet malts with hints of fruitiness. The flavor is as advertised (on the malty side). This one grew on me. Early on I got alcohol more than flavor but that soon went away. medium bodied. dra19 (89), holland, Michigan, USA
