Commercial Description:
At Weyerbacher, we prefer to brew things true to European style guidelines, so our barley wine is definitely on the malty side, without being overly sweet. Notes of date or perhaps fig on the palate follow a pleasurably malty aroma to your taste buds. The finish is warm and fruity, and begs for the next sip.

Draught. This is different from any barleywine I have tried. I liked the thick feel on the palate. As with most weyerbachers, and barelywines I’ve tried just a bit too oily for me. The finish was smooth with a little burn right at the end. The flavor improved as it warmed. What it didn’t do in flavor for me it made up for with appearance and aroma.

On tap @ Mr Goodbar Buffalo NY. Not usually a big fanof Barleywines But I rather enjoyed this one. Sweeet malts, alcohol, fruity. Strong but not over bearing

Draught: Hard to discern aroma because of cigarettes in the bar. Smelled malty with notes of honey and brown sugar. Poured a copper/amber color with a small, dense, off-white head that lasted throughout. Clear. Not sparkling. Small lacing. Flavor is quite sweet. Tastes of alcohol, bourbon and brandy. Medium to full body. Soft carbonation. Short, sweet finish. Overall, I prefer a hoppier, more balanced Barley Wine.

Bottle. Pours clear amber in color with a head that dissappears quickly. Aroma is sweet malts with hints of fruitiness. The flavor is as advertised (on the malty side). This one grew on me. Early on I got alcohol more than flavor but that soon went away. medium bodied.

Pours nice amber color with thin head. Nice flavor of malts and fruits. A good barley wine but not one of the best.

This is one of my favs. I like this beer because it is different (in a good way) from many other barley wines that i have had. I really enjoyed the burn on the way down.

This is different from any barleywine I have tried. I liked the thick feel on the palate. The finish was smooth with a little burn right at the end. The flavor improved as it warmed. I had seen this one in the store for a while but always ended up picking something else. Nice brew.

Bottle thanks to MaxxDaddy. Poured a slightly hazy amber color with a thin fleeting head. Vey malty aromas, not much hop in the aroma. sweet flavors, lots of caramel and crystal malts. Nice flavor, but not very barley wine-ish, but good. Sweet finis to a nice beer.
