| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 27, 2006 Pours moderately dark cloudy amber with a quickly fading tan head. The aroma is thick musty caramel malt with lots of sweetness - this seems like a stong scotch ale. Medium / full body with quite a bit of soft carbonation. The taste is very rich and cloying with a huge helping of caramel, some toffee and biscuit - very sweet and malty. The finish has some alcohol burn added to the flavors, but not too excessive escpeically considering the alcohol content. An okay barleywine. Nate (2558), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 22, 2006 Decent nose to this one. Cherry skins and oak with some vanilla and light fruity hops. Bit of toffee and caramel, and a hint of alcohol. Not overly vaporous or fragrant. Shimmering reddish-brown clear with off-white creamy lacing head. Medium-heavy watery body, just a tad thick, with medium carbonation. Light warming and burn. Starts with fruity sweetness, like frozen cherries dipped in some weak oaky vanilla. Dry raw graininess and alcohol warming. Sweet for the first few seconds before some nice bittering enters the picture. Nice dryness to it and not overly done. After has a bit of raisin with dry nuttiness. Decent barley wine. TipsyMcStager (928), Calgary, Alberta, Canada

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 16, 2006 Bottle. Reddish, nut-brown color with a cream colored head. Malty up front, vanilla, oak, caramel, toffee, raisins. There is a strange note in there, almost smells like corn syrupy cherry candy. Sweet flavor, nice caramel flavor, subtle bitterness. Again with the artificially sweet flavor, too sweet. Could be more bitter in my opinion, with more hop balance. Sticky on the palate. I wouldn’t have this again, but the ABV is hidden well. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Dec 12, 2006 (Bottle) Pours red with a small white head. Aroma of wet dog, (dried) fruits and a deep, almost sickening honey sweetness. Undertones of allmond paste and soft soap and aroma candels. Notes of oak, cherries and vanilla. Peppery and spicey hints. Flavour is to sweet -like a blanket of white sugar/honey over all other tastes. Silky, velvetly mouthfeel and a small afterbitterness that makes it possible to take another zip. Raisins and figs. A bit minty aftertaste with hints of anise. Some spicy alcohol. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 9, 2006 Beautiful dark brown with a sensuously sweet aroma. Taste is thick and raisiny with an obvious alcohol edge. Great product, but I prefer it’s oak aged sibling, Insanity. $3/12oz
