Pours a dark amber, essentially brown in color. The head is slightly off white and rather prevelant. The smell is sweet, I smell whay I believe are something similar to chocolate raisins. The smell is very enjoyable. Taste is very creamy, with a hint of bitterness. Again, there seems to be a taste that seems to be chocolate raisin, or other dark fruit. Forms a good size foamy head. Looks kinda sexy but lets see what we got here; (takes a drink)- Yummy, caramels, figs, and lots of lovely malts!!! This is my first bonafide barley wine beer, and WOW, what a nice suprise! Alcohol is well hidden and sorta brings a character to the beer/ale that makes it more drinkable. Very good beer, looking forward to some more. TrevorFloyd (309), Connecticut, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 29, 2006 Big on the malt, not as hoppy as a lot of BW’s. Complex sweetness with some darker fruit flavors that keeps the 11.1% noticeable. RichJ7 (1175), Cullman, Alabama, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 29, 2006 A very nice barleywine. Pours a cloudy, earthy brown in color with a thin beige head. Strong malty aroma; flavor is sweet malt, alcohol, definitely some dark, sweet fruity things going on. Thick on the palate with a nice, malty finish with just a dash of hops. Very good. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 29, 2006 FIrst impression: stoong alch content, but still very smooth and flavorful. lots of fruit flavors blended in with maltiness. Very interesting -- it gets more complex as it warms, some hints of hops. jdubilla (12), Athens, Ohio, USA

Strong alcohol taste, but it definitely warmed me up and gave me a nice buzz at the same time. Scubatrip (388), Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 9, 2006 From the bottle, pours a translucent dark red with a foamy off-white head, very little lacing. Smells sweetly of alcohol and green grapes (but mostly alcohol). Taste is very much of alcohol, from beginning to end. Lightly sweet, but overwhelmingly alcohol. As it warms, there is a bit more fruity taste, the grapes are more apparent, there is a warmth on the palate as well, but that alcohol taste is still there. Pretty good for the style. invalid (302), Columbus, Ohio, USA

I’ve had this beer twice, once in an aged bottle and once on tap. Both times they were thick as syrup and only tasted like alcohol. Too hot for me.
