| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 15, 2009 ehhhh....... Surprisingly one dimensional. The usual BW qualities, although not super heavy or hot. Some nice notes of fudge, fig and caramel, but it drops off too quick to really examine it. vinerd (17), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | May 14, 2009 Bottle. Pours deep amber with a thin tan head. Aromas of sweet caramel, brown sugar, fruit, little bit of alcohol and a little banana bread. Aroma is light and not overpowering. Taste is fruit, figs, big malt, brown sugar, caramel. Nice fruity finish, lively sensation on my tongue and good warming as it goes down. Big beer but at the same time, not hard to drink. ben4321 (1051), Rockville, Maryland, USA

Old rating from a few years ago, so I don’t remember a whole lot about this one except that I liked it, and I need to drink it again. RHeastings (426), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 11, 2009 Enjoyed via a wine glass from a 12 oz bottle. Pours a deep brown color with a very very slight head. The aroma was not promising - perhaps a combination of basement, oxidized malts, and stale beer. However, things improve drastically from there. Notes of complex malts come across on the palate, balanced at the end of the palate with hops. The finish is reasonably dry, especially considering the gravity of the beer. Overall, this is a nicely styled example, and one that is drinkable during almost any season. jeremytoni (1122), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 8, 2009 From a bottle poured a dark amber color with a fair amount of head. Nice spicey sweet flavor with a lingering aftertaste. Dmalone102 (221), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | May 7, 2009 Clear Red/amber colr, good head. The taste balance is definately on the sweeter side. Notes of dark fruit dominate, it’s a bit too cloying for me, I prefer Barleywine’s to be a little drier and more drinkable. scrizzz (1327), kirkland, Washington, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 7, 2009 Sweet fig and honey on the nose, some honeydew and intriguing heat. Usually the aroma of impending heat is off putting but this is subtle. Clear amber gold, lasting white head. Little chlorine up front, golden raisin, smooth velvet texture. Honey in the finish.
