Commercial Description:
At Weyerbacher, we prefer to brew things true to European style guidelines, so our barley wine is definitely on the malty side, without being overly sweet. Notes of date or perhaps fig on the palate follow a pleasurably malty aroma to your taste buds. The finish is warm and fruity, and begs for the next sip.

Pours a dark amber with a semi fizzy off white head. Big sweet malty aromas of caramel, fig, and raisin. The flavor is highly malty with upfront flavors of raisin, caramel, fig, bread, and other fruit then moves into a little bit of alcohol that almost resembles whiskey. Warming on the way down, sweet and creamy. A good malty barley wine.

12 oz. bottle - not sure you brought this little bad boy; pours clear and copper; lots of sugar and mild amount of heat; touch of smoke too, which was a welcome addition; figs, sugar but not too rich; drinkable for 11%+ and very decent overall

Bottle. Amber brown beer with a light tan head. Malty aroma with some dried fruit, figs, and dates and a bit of alcohol. Malt flavor with some sweetness, vanilla, and light figs/raisins. Lighter than expected body. Vanilla and malt lingers with a bit of dried fruit.

Bottle from coldbrewky. Cool amber body with healthy head. Sweet and syrupy nose. Taste of sugary and roasty malts. Nuts in full evidence. Delicious vanilla notes. Warming finish. Thanks again Steve!

Bottle. Pours a sandy brown with off white head atop. Nose is dough and a pleasant natural powder sugar aroma. Taste is sugar, malt, dark fruit, port, honey, hazelnut, and alcohol. Obviously monumentally complex in flavor. Tons going on. Not my favorite B-Wine, but very respectable.

I know this is a good beer, but it just didnt sit right with me. Had this one as a session beer at yet another beer room weekend. I got alot of dark fruit brandy in it. Something seemed off for me, my tongue would kind of curl after a while of drinking it. Maye too malty, IDK, i know its a good beer, i just didnt dig it.

Bottle of the 2008 at Bacchus. Pours a clear brown with a large browned beige head. Sweet bready aromas, hops, and toasted malt. Flavor is a little sweet, with notes of plums, raisins, and maybe even a touch of bubblegum. Finishes a touch hot still, with warming alcohol notes, and more sweet dark fruit.
