Commercial Description:
At Weyerbacher, we prefer to brew things true to European style guidelines, so our barley wine is definitely on the malty side, without being overly sweet. Notes of date or perhaps fig on the palate follow a pleasurably malty aroma to your taste buds. The finish is warm and fruity, and begs for the next sip.

This barley wine is last on my short list of b.w.s I have tried. It didn’t seem to pack much of a wallup even with it’s high alchol content. The falvors were if not muted then simple and the aromas were nice not complex.

Thanks to HogTownHarry. Appearance: Clear deep amber with a nice lasting suede head. Aroma: Malty, alcohol, cream, raisins, sugar, honey, perfume, overripe pineapple. Flavour: Alcoholic, warm, seriously warm. Caramel, winter fruits, sweet as anything, not cloying but definitely wouldn’t have more than one in a sitting. Nice long toffee-alcohol finish.

12oz bottle. Murky, orange with small white head. Citrus, alc, big malt, caramel. Caramel, sweet, dark fruit, raisin, plum, alc, perfumey, orange. pineapple, mango. Medium, creamy body. Nice and full bodied but alc is a little too forward, I enjoy the maltiness of it though... nice.

Draft, pours a dark, rich, amber color with an off-white head. Malty aroma with noticeable alcohol. Flavor is also malty with notes of dried fruit, raisins, figs, prunes, etc. Very little carbonations. The alcohol is somewhat pronounced.

Buttery, chewy, toffyish. A little fruity. I have had better barley wines, but I have more that are worse. I am glad to find another malty, bitterless version of the style. I am sick of malty I2PAs being passed off as barley wines.

Deep apricot pour with no head. Malty, caramel nose with some fruits. Sticky malt flavor with some darker fruits coming through....alcohol is pretty well hidden.

Sampled at the Hopsnobbery Collective barley wine tasting on 3.14.09. Cloudy amber color with a medium beige head. Malty aroma with alcohol, sugar and some dark fruits. Sweet malt flavor with some alcohol and hop. Sort of flat.

Bottle. Poured a medium amber color with tiny off-white head. The aroma is strong of alcohol and dark fruits. The flavor is very smooth malty with hints of raisin and plum. Finish is dry and sticky with somewhat heavy alcohol. Excellent.
