Pours ruby with a small tan head. Aroma is of malt, sugar, alcohol, dark fruit, and caramel. Has a strange sugary alcohol aroma that I didn’t expect. Taste is of slight wood, dry malt, sugar, a decent amount of fruit, and caramel. Has a strong, underlying alcohol presence. Lingering taste of sugary fruit. Mouthfeel is creamy and sticky. A strange mix of flavors, but I enjoyed it.

Dec 3, 2009 Bottle into a pint glass. Pours cloudy mahogany color with light head. Aroma is much more wine-like than beer. (I know its a barley wine, but the aroma is strong even for that.) Taste is sweet and lacks the hops to balance it out completely but not too bad. Has an oily feel on the palate, but the high alcohol is not very evident to the taste. Overall, it is not a bad barley wine. I would buy again.

Nov 29, 2009 Iced tea colouring with slim to no head. Very malty, nutty nose. Taste is very malty, slightly sweet, and hinting of alcohol. Oily mouthfeel and sits rather heavy. Tastes very much like barley or other grains.

Nov 22, 2009 12 oz. bottle recieved in trade from Daknole- Thanks! Served in shaker- poured semi transparent darkened amber with ruby tints in color, low carbonation, wafer thin white head formed and tried to lace. Aroma of almost a wine like quality, malt, and light floral hops. Hits the mouth with low-wide body, malt is there and is pleasantly laced with caramel, mild sweetness in the middle, finish it warming and awesome!

Nov 2, 2009 This is a nice malty barley wine that is strong in alc but you would not know it. The yeast creates raisins..maybe fig flavors. The hops are not too strong but are nice on the finish.

Oct 30, 2009 Pours a rich, dark amber (w/ lots of yeast sediment) from the 12oz. bottle: Dried red fruits (plums, raisins, dates...maybe even an apricot), sweet malts, and yeast give this beer real character. A masked alcohol presence for the most part. My stomach’s so warm. I only had little more than half the bottle and I’m happpppy. Drinkability: Dangerous and sinful. almost caramel in color.
Has strong malty notes of dates and figs
Tastes is warm and fruity.
A very impressive pour.
