It poured into the glass a clear bronze color with just a little head that was gone pretty much instantly. Not much lacing left on the glass, either. The smell wasn’t too deep. It was a light, sweet, smell. The malt is in there as is a lot of sugar. No hop smell. The taste reminds me of light white grapes and a lot of sugar. I had a hard time pinpointing exactly what the flavors were, other than the grapes and sugar. The yeast really comes though on this one, too. I’d say this wouldn’t be bad to drink a lot of. It is a distinct flavor, and not bold at all. It is a little bland, but that might just be the subtleness of the sweet flavors. It isn’t bad, at all, but it isn’t perfect, either.

Draft @ McMenamin’s: Poured a reddish brown with only a slight wisp of head. Slightly spicy clove-like aroma with some hints of orange citrus. Flavor is cloves and toffee malts with just the right amount of hops to cleanse the palate at the end. I think this is the first Weyerbacher beer I’ve actually like and ordered more than one of.

Draft @ Capones: Poured a light brown color with not much head. The aroma was nutty and fruity. The flavor was fruity with caramel, cloves, and some roasted nuts present. Overall, an easy drinking beer. Wish I had more of this one.

12 oz bottle from the brewery. Thin head of fine bubbles. Light carbonation. Dusty roasted grains aroma with some chocolate malt and some all-spice. Dark crimson brown in color. Slightly tart flavor with more roasted grains, tea and a hint of barrel aged scotch. Hmmmm. Medium bodied with a bit of dry bitterness and slightly gritty mouthfeel. Light alcohol presence. Finishes roasty and dry. A decent brew.

Draft at Capone’s. Poured deep brown with 1-finger off-khaki head. Nose is banana nut bread, Scotch caramelly malt, yeasty spices. Tastes earthy, dunkelweiseny, with a solid malt coupled with some nut, banana, spice, and peaty notes. Fairly rich and complex palate, but this one didn;t blow me away. Still, it is very much worth seeking out.

Draft, at Capone’s (Norristown, PA). Poured clear brown/amber, topped with a small ring of white bubbles. Aroma of malt, cereal, wheat, and spice. Wheat, cereal, clove, toffee and banana are predominant flavors, with some mild hops, nuts, and cocoa in the background. Medium bodied. Flavorful and very drinkable.
