Amber with foamy off-white head. Aroma of honey, juniper, cardamon, praline, cinnamon, almond paste, spruce, and more. Medium to full body with some syrupy stickiness. Flavor was sweet and spicy with some alcohol overtones. Not too shabby.

Bottle. Thick, glutinous opaque sienna brown beer with minutest appearance of some bubbles on top. Smells like a lot of ginger, honey, tea, and stuff my ex hippie weird liberal 10th grade teacher would drink. Smells a bit like weird stuff from grandma’s cabinet if ya know what I mean - pungent, foreign, old, and potentially bad for you but somehow sickly enticing. Tastes like cough medicine with a mixture of all those flowery gingery things you’d expect from the aroma, and it’s very sweet, almost thick with sugar. I think it’s abit disgusting, it’s nice to go out on a limb once in a while but this is like some weird fermented grandma kool aid experiment gone wrong. Thanks for the effort, see ya next time weyerbacher, this stuff is poo.

This American Strong Ale pours a dark copper color from a 12oz bottle. Small sized white foamy head. Aroma is sweet, honey, brown sugar, spruce and spices. A medium to full bodied American Strong Ale. Malts are caramel, fruit and chocolate. Hops are slightly spicy. Lots of spices compete with a lot of sweetness. Lively carbonation. Nice balance. A touch sweet for my taste. Some bottle aging could probably improve this beer a whole lot. It does hide the 13% alcohol well. There is some alcohol warming on the palate at the finish. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is sweet with a touch of alcohol.

Milky amber in color. Practically no head. Sweet aromas of honey, oatmeal, alcohol and fragrant fruit. This beer could easily be cloying or astringent on the tongue, but is neither. Long lasting, sweetened finish, though the beer tastes decidedly less sweet than it smells. Apricot, sour cherry, oak, vanilla, clove. Kind of a mess, thematically, but somehow it works. Wish I liked the flavors enough to give higher marks for palate, but when the beer needs this much mellowing...

Bottle. I’m having a hard time believing that this is a beer. It seems more like a rum infused chai. Aroma is actually pretty good ... honey, ginger, nutmeg, rum, but they play well in the nose. Take a sip, though, and they immediately start to fight for supremacy, which is never good. Ginger, nutmeg and rum are the strongest in the mouth, and it’s pretty astringent. I think every spice in the book is in this one, it’s also peppery, with cloves and corriander as well. There may be a hint of hops, but they’re hiding in the corner, fearing for their lives. Finishes very hot and sweet. I’ll be popping the Tums tonight.
