Dark copper-amber colour with a small head. Big aroma - brown sugar, buckwheat honey, spice, wood, resiny hops & booze. Mouthfeel is thick and warm. Flavour is sweet and spicey - cardamom, nutmeg & cinnamon. The edges are a little harsh, but that is probably to be expected from a 13%er - with a year or two in the cellar, this could turn into a spectacular beer. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 30, 2005 Updated: Mar 13, 2006Bottle (650ml). Shared with blankboy, GregClow and Tupalev, bottle courtesy of blankboy. Poured deep clear copper-brown with a minimal off-white head. Aroma was honey-sweet, nutty, spicy (we settled on "cardomum"), roasted malts and candied fruits, resiny oakiness and, of course, alcohol. Taste had plenty of caramel roast malt, oak, and enough alcohol to warm the tips of my ears; the woodiness and candied fruits really emerged on warming. I loved the mouthfeel of this one - syrupy, flat, alcoholic, complex - I’m becoming a big fan of these big strong syrupy brews. tsarman (794), Northern, New Jersey, USA

Yes it is sweet and strong in alcohol, but I enjoyed it thoroughly. Had two in one day and survived to tell the tale. Honey predominates. Hawksfan17 (717), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 25, 2005 This poured a shade of brown. There was notes of citrus in the aroma, and in the flavor I took it to be grapefruit, but then thought it was actually more like cinnamon apple then citrus. It was hopped nicely and was a great beer for the ten year anniversary. Kinz (2213), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Sep 22, 2005 Poured a slightly hazy ruby brown, with a thin, creamy head. Aroma was strongly malty with a clear alcohol underpinning, predominant molasses note. Flavor matched, loads of molasses, toffee, and liqour notes, primarily bourbon, perhaps a hint of cognac. There was a fruitiness in the back of this beer that was quite appealing as well. A bit on the hot side, I felt the alcohol in this beer was nicely integrated into the flavor profile. Quite enjoyable, and cheers to Dan and Sue for ten years in the business! zach8270 (2127), Henrietta, New York, USA

Very sweet and fruity aroma with hints of apples, yeast, malt, spices and some mint I believe. Very sweet flavor of fruits, yeast, spices, cloves and caramel. Very thick and creamy with a nice alcohol burn. roder60 (1030), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Sep 21, 2005 Pours a hazy bubbly light brown with a very very small amount of quickly dissapating head. Aroma is strong alcohol, apples, raisins, and caramel. My cat smelled it then flipped out and ran away. Flavor is very robust, burned sugar, raisins, banana and tons of alcohol kick. Overall, it was just too much booze for me. Pailhead (2602), Allen Park, Michigan, USA

Aroma has lots of apple, caramel, yeast, banana, and a hint of alcohol. Pours a mostly transparent orangish-red with an insignificant white head that is just a ring. Lots of apple, banana, yeast, and light caramel. Hint of alcohol flavor in the finish with moderate warmth. I would have to say the best offering that I’ve had from Weyerbacher so far.
