Commercial Description:
Echo is a “Rye-PA” at 6.8%, brewed with pale, crystal, carapils, and 30% rye malts, bittered to 60 IBUs, and late-hopped with Simcoe and Centennial Hops. This dark-copper ale combines the citrus kick of the hops with the spicy flavor that comes from using 30% rye. This winter IPA will help you bridge the gap between now and Spring.

Draft @ Capone’s: Poured a reddish brown color with a nice head. The aroma was citrus, flowers, pine, spice and hops. The flavor was grapefruit and flowers, with a spicy hop finish. Overall, not as smooth as some IPA’s, but still pleasant to drink.

Won’t be a fair rating since I’m no big fan of big hops. Aroma was distinctly grapefruity and therefore obviously hoppy. Pour though was a beautiful amber/red with nice read retention/lacing. Flavor was bitter from hops and rye, though medium body and very dry which was nice

Draft at Capone’s. Pours blackish with dark brown edges (I was surprised by the black color in this) with off-tan head. Nose is rye oumpernickly malt, spicy hops, roasty caramel, some earthy peaty notes. Tastes a bit more significant than it smells, with hefty rye malt, caramel, dark chocolate, some nuts, hoppy citrus, and some spiciness. Very good.

[Draft @ Capones] Poured a brown amber color with a small, off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of floral hops, citrus fruits, pine, caramel, and toast. Taste of chewy rye, caramel malts, toffee, nuts, pine, citrus fruits, and a dry finish.

Reddish-amber color with a medium head. Aroma provides a big rye presence with some floral and citrus hops along with a bready sweetness. Flavor has some mild rye and floral/citrus hops. Good, but my (slight) disappointment here is that they failed to capture the Double Simcoe magic and match (or come close to) Dock Street’s Rye IPA. Overall good, but could have been much better.

On tap at Capone’s. Reddish amber body with a two finger off-white head. Lots of citrus on the nose with a touch of biscuit. Very good flavor with lots of pine, citrus, bread, and a tad bit floral. Very tasty.

On tap at Capone’s. This one combines 2 of my top favorites (Rye and IPAs!). Poured a medium amberish/copper color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of rye, floral, citrus, and bready. Tastes of rye, toasty, citrus, caramel, grains, and bready. Lighter bitter finish.
