Very sweet smelling, big fruitss, berries, and plums. Quite a big hop aroma as well. Big, big alcohol noticeable right away. Big hop taste with some sweet cinnamon and fruits with a sharp bitterness from the alcohol were abundant. Very crisp with a nice caramel finish and lingered in the aftertaste. Big beer. thewolf (5796), Kolding, Denmark

Pours a slightly hazy orange amber with next-to-nothing off white head. Aroma is great. Loads of hops naturally, but with a really fruity edge - some grapefruit, some oranges. Extremely oily mouhtfeel - only a small bit of carbonation. Flavour is heavy, again dominated by the hops. Vinious, bitter, floral - again with the fruity edge to it. Very long aftertaste with a caramel sticky feel to it. Good, but perhaps a bit too much hoppyness compared to the malts. I’ve tried other impy IPA that are better balanced. The aroma is sweet and very grassy, but also with a spicy note, that reminds me of Belgian beers. The flavor is very powerful, and very hoppy - like a strong hop soup, with a slight touch of oranges, and with a very bitter end joe1510 (501), Illinois, USA

I’ve been looking forward to trying this. According to the bottle it’s a "Triple IPA". As soon as I popped the cap I felt as if I was all of a sudden in the middle of a forest of pine trees.
Eleven poured a bright glowing orange into a snifter. A 2+ finger dense creamy eggshell head sits up top. The head fades down to thick 1 finger and leaves chunky lacing just from receding. Sluggish carbonation bubbles rise against the sides of the glass. Wow! This stuff looks amazing. I have to do it. The appearence gets a 5. The head is tenacious.
With the high alcohol in this one I thought I’d get one of two things. Either big sweet malts or a strong alcohol aroma. In a very nice surprise I get neither. BIG pine hops and oils take over the entire aroma but in the background there is slightly sweet sugary character that is right on.There is a small aspirin scent at the finish. My mouth is watering uncontrollably.
The taste is craziness. The best way I can describe it is chewing on a handful of pine needles. When you’re half done throw in a caramel and some smarties. When all that is chewed up, the flavors mingled together, and ready to swallow stick an aspirin in your cheek and let it dissolve for a few seconds. When you swallow, swallow everything at once. That is identical to what this beer tastes like. The hops are way bigger than the malt but the malt is there. The aspirin is felt in the back of the throat and nose with a short numbness. This is so unusual tasting and damn is it good. I’m diggin this stuff.
The mouthfeel is surprisingly good for a brew of such high alcohol. It’s thick and syrupy but somehow not cloying. It’s coating and but goes down smooth. Again, very unusual characteristics.
The drinkability takes a hit because I personally dont think I could drink a lot of this because of the aspirin and high alcohol. I am going to polish off this bomber though.
This beer isn’t for everyone and I’m sure there is a lot of people that won’t like it at all but it’s a must try for a hophead. There are some qualities I could see people not liking but it’s definately worth trying simply for how unique it is. I feel lucky to have gotten a bomber.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 21, 2007 Bottle (650ml). Pours a cloudy orange-amber with an average size off-white head. Aroma of spicy, piney hops with some malt in the back, fruit, some faint sugary sweetness and some alcohol -- but it’s predominantly hops. Flavour has tons of earthy, spicy, piney hops with a malt backbone and a very bitter finish. It is a little boozy and acidic. Medium to full bodied, thick and creamy. This is an odd one, it’s definitely different but I’m not sure it’s totally successful, it’s good but it’s a little hard to drink -- it’s slightly unbalanced and boozy. Maybe it needs to age for a few years? beerbill (1966), Laurel, New York, USA

Pours a hazy copper orange with a moderate off-white head that lasted to the very bottom of the glass and coated the sides of the glass very nicely right down to the bottom. I was expecting the typical pine and grapefruit in the aroma, but found none (after reading the description, now I know why!). Aroma was fruity with some citrus along with apples and peaches. Also some caramel malt in the nose. The flavor was well balanced I thought with plenty of caramel malt to balance off against the apples, citrus and peach flavors. Nice bitter finish, but not excessive by any means. This beer coats the mouth but is not heavy or viscous. Very enjoyable. SamuraiArtist (292), portland, Oregon, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 13, 2007 Bottle: Pours an orange color with a pretty big foamy white head. Some malt and earthy hop aroma. Flavor is pretty malty but hop forward definitely. The hops are unique to say the least. I guess you would say they are earthy. They taste sorta like dirt and hemp, slightly spicy. I have never had this level of earthiness. Its very unique but frankly i really dont like the flavor, atleast not this much of it.
