Aroma has
Flavor has a grassy, grape-skin hop character reminiscent of a young DFH Olde School. Pretty thick and sweet with that grassy pencil lead hop character. Lasting hop finish, like bitter candy or couph drop, but also some sweet rosey character. Warms up nice. Interesting nice flavor, that gets boring.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 6, 2006 Where’s the aroma on this pussy? If you’re gonna call yourself a triple IPA you better smell like a bum’s salty piss. Smells malty and alcoholic. Has a really grassy bitterness and luckily not a thick syrupy sweetness like a barley wine or i’d be confused. I guess it’s bitter but I don’t taste the hops necessary for its whatever...not a double IPA. a good ASA or just a bad IIPA. On paper Weyerbacher is the best looking brewer...tons of innovational beers that sound delicious. In the end they all kind of taste the same or gross. treadyroc (112), St. Leonard, Maryland, USA

From the bottle; pours a cloudy amber. It was very dry for an IPA, & almost too dry/malty. You almost couldn’t taste the hops for the dryness. The hop taste sort of kicks in after the palate adjusts, but it’s still not the full, flowery hop flavor that I look for in a double/imperial IPA. OldGrowth (1434), North Carolina, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 8/20 | Oct 6, 2006 Bottle, from Raleigh Wholefoods. Ok nose grassy, grainy, grapefruit. ABV comes across with a rubbing alcohol scent. Clean orangy copper color, Big head with good lacing. Bitter flavor. Biting ABV. A lemon or grapefruit rind bitterness dominates. Thick body, oily viscous mouthfeel, Bitter sticky finish. What a mess, this offers the worst of an IIPA. Not enjoyable at all. I’ll be hesitant to buy future Weyerbacher offerings, unless I’m just getting a cheap rating. I dumped the last bit of my glass. BückDich (4857), McCall, Idaho, USA

Orange/amber, light head and lacing. Nose of musky hops, some woody, some citrusy and malty notes. The flavor is chewy, nice and hoppy, an odd blend of muskiness and fresh citrusy. The finish is balanced. Decent. tronraner (1939), Seymour, Tennessee, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 30, 2006 Bomber. Pours cloudy orange with creamy ivory colored head. The aroma is hops, peach, pineapple, a little banana, a little zest, and some German hop tones. The flavor is maltier than I was expecting. Some fruity hops and hay leave a coarse finish and aftertaste. Grainy and zesty notes throughout. Ok, but not a very well-defined hop profile. I must say I’m a bit disappointed. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 29, 2006 Bottle thanks to xproudfoot. Light orange to copper body, sediment-laden, thick cream head. Sweet, caramely aroma with abundant grassy hops with hints of citrus, but nothing overpowering; hints of tropical fruits also apparent. My overall impression of the body is a sugary alcoholic tea; the grassy, resiny hops overwhelm any complexity to be derived from the malt or yeast. It’s good to try a Double IPA that refrains from egregious use of the most popular American hops varieties, but it’s still too much. tsarman (794), Northern, New Jersey, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 28, 2006 This is pretty hoppy. And strong. It’s decent beer, but maybe a little too hoppy. Maybe not the first beer to try after not drinking for awhile. Ouch.
