Thanks to both of you guys for being such great traders.Monster alcohol from this. But this isn’t as syrupy as Devil Dancer but every bit as intense in the throat. Nose is big hoppiness and what seems to be mango or peach. Something like that. It is a sipper. DO NOT DRINK THIS IF YOU ARE THIRSTY. Drink it when you have a long time to enjoy it. Pours a transparent amber with a small soapy white head. Quick sweet citrus flavors up front with orange and apricot and a hint of caramel. Sweetness is quickly overtaken by a big piney hop finish with a hint of grapefruit. JFGrind (1352), Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA

Best thing about Weyerbacher 11 is its made from one hop, Phoenix. Well backed up by smooth smoked malts. I can’t help but think that this is more of a barleywine than a Triple IPA (if there is a such a thing). asteele8 (270), Mukilteo, Washington, USA

The aroma is pine, floral, hops, and citrus. Flavor is full of hops at first sip. Afterwards there is a kick of alcohol and a bit of spice. This beer reminds me of a barley wine. Decent beer nonetheless, just wasn’t expecting this kind of flavor. sheatripper (863), Brooklyn, New York, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 20, 2006 22 oz bomber. Murky orange brown in color with a light tan head. Left sheets and spots of lacing. First aroma was of fresh pinapple, then zesty dark brown sugar/raisiny roasted malt, candied orange rind, soft cheese yeast, pine, smoke and alcohol. First sip was a piquant hop blast, followed by burnt campfire marshmallows and a bit of cayenne pepper, then charred oak. Some of the classic deep citrus oil/piney hop and supermalt flavors of the typical 2IPA are apparent but lost in the mix. Extra alcohol or bourbon cask (?) I think created a smoky or charred effect which does in all the other complex 2IPA flavors. Nice buzz though. jimbowood (953), Athens, Georgia, USA

Most IIPA’s have basically the same flavors- piney, floral, citrus, resin, etc. This is definitely not your typical IIPA. First IIPA that I’ve had w/ pure British hops. A much different take on the style. Nice alcohol burn on the back of the throat. Unlike traditional IIPA’s, I bet this one matures well. VERY good. cbrixius (136), Newberrytown, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 19, 2006 I was a bit torn about this one....I wanted it to taste outstanding, and I wanted to blown away by the hops...but I wasn’t. For me the overriding alcohol content hid what appeared to be substandard, sweet and floral hops. A couple of days ago I tried Great Divide Hercules, which balanced the high alcohol, high hops, good sweet malt taste to near perfection. But the 11 could not compare, in my opinion. Was it good....yes, but there better options out there. moejuck (1165), Ohio, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 19, 2006 Wow was this one good. The pour was a nice strong amber color with a head that lasted awhile. The aroma was a great pine and citrus mix. Taste is incredibly smooth for a beer this colse to 12%. Flavors were citrus hops for sure, but the incredible malt backbone is what makes this one incredible. I can’t wait to see how good it is in a couple of years.
