Commercial Description:
With its rich malty taste, deliciously full body and clean crisp finish, Weyerbacher ESB is truly a delectable libation. Boasting a fragrant hop aroma and glowing with a reddish-amber color, our ESB is arousing yet well balanced. It's the perfect companion for good friends, good food, or just about any occasion.

If I was to describe the experience in one word, I'd use the word crisp. Looked decent when poured, with a clear pale amber look and a smallish head that fizzled out in a matter of seconds. Aroma was faintly hoppy at first. The taste however was very nondescript and lacked any complexity whatsoever. It tries to offend none but ends up not being terribly pleasant either.

for an esb i thought it may have lacked the bitter quality. i liked the beer but nothing really stuck out. i was really for looking for bitterness and expecting more bite.

Poured an orange amber color with a small quickly diminishing off white head. Malty, vanilla, hay and almost a strawberryish aroma. There is also hay in the taste, wierd. Also some malt and a slightly bitter hop taste as well as some orange peel. I don't know why hay was all over this one?

Nice amber color, not much of an aroma. Definitely malty and slightly bitter but there's something that I don't quite like about it but I can't put my finger on what it is.

Medium brown in color, large head. Not very bitter, but then again real English Bitters are not very bitter. A good balance between the hops and the malts. Better than Yards.

Had this draft at the Weyerbacher open house. Good beer, nothing special. Had a nice malt flavor. Wasn't that bitter however.

hmmm... problaby waited to long , so this rating is much closer to room temp then it should be... nice flavor for a bitter, but dark, thick, and heavy... it would be a good bitter for food, but doesn't stand alone well....

The hops are in full view and this beer has a smokiness that's halfway to a rauchbier. It's as if they toasted the malt, and is reminiscent of a scotch ale in its malty taste. Not particularly ESB-ish.
