Commercial Description:
This fantastic brew began its life as "Charlie", the third installment of the Brewer’s Select Series. It is now part of our seasonal lineup and will be released in the month of January. It is an intricate dark ale with a touch of smokiness. The rich malt flavor, crisp bitterness and smoke reach perfect equilibrium in this brew. At 7.5% abv, Fireside Ale will warm you up as the temperature drops.

(12oz bottle) Small beige head atop clear walnut brown body. Aroma is moderately sweet, caramel, toffee/molasses, nut. Smokey characteristic asserts itself as the beer warms. Taste is medium sweet, nut, tobacco, some smoke, light toffee. Medium body, light acidity.

12oz bottle thanks to vwcraig. Looks like a typical brown ale, little to no head. The flavor is only slightly smoky which to me is a good thing and makes it easier to drink this beer since I amno fan of smoke flavors in beer. The aroma is devoid of smoke and is pretty much dark malts. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 03-14-2009 20:42:28

Location: 12 oz bottle from Gilly’s, 3/23/09

Aroma: Malts, caramel, surprisingly light on the smoke
Appearance: Brown, slight clearness to it for a beer this color, medium off-white head
Flavor: Kind of sweet, mildly bitter
Palate: Relatively well balanced, medium body, great mouthfeel
Overall Impression: This beer works well, it translates nicely, and progresses pretty well through the palate. The sweetness of the caramel is backed nicely by a mild hoppy bitterness and a subtle sweetness on the finish. Overall, it works pretty well.

Pours dark caramel brown with tan head. Very mild smokey aroma. Flavors of light smoke, caramel, toasted malts. Slightly sweet. Not as smokey as I would have liked for a smoked beer, but it was still good. Medium body with moderate carbonation.

Bottle. Barleywine looking. Smokey and malty. Basically a nice malty ale finished with the aftertaste of packaged Polish sausage. Pleasant feeling in the mouth. A nice change of pace.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy amber with a small frothy light tan head. Decent spotty lacing on the glass. The aroma is a roasted malt with smoke and caramel. The taste is a bitter roasted malt with smoke and chocolate. A good smoked from weyerbacher
