Tastes malty, rauchy, with nut brown and hop flavors late. Remains malty with a subtle rauchy note and some hops and earthy notes. Solid. zappafan99 (463), South Carolina, USA

Aroma: Nice smoke, a little smoked meat and some alcohol. Taste: Nice drinkable smoke that finishes well. Would be nice for a food pairing calling for smoked beer. The aroma was tangy, sweetish and had a touch of smoke. The flavor was bitter, lightly roasty and had subtle undertones of wood and smoke. The finish was dry and malty with a lingering light smokiness. The alcohol was well hidden. Ok. WisconsinBeer (531), St Paul, Minnesota, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 22, 2009 Bottle. Thanks to Jabic for the hookup! Deep brown pour, lingering foamy head. Flavor is lightly smoked malt, caramel malt, just a bit of dark chocolate. This is a really good beer because the smoke doesn’t overwhelm, just plays a background role. This would compare somewhat to a nut brown ale. Medium bodied, a bit sweet. Lingering mild smoke finish. Beershine (2754), Traipsing Around, Cambodia
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 22, 2009 Dark coffee-colored brown with scant tan head. Peat smoke aroma is simple and inviting. Smooth low carbonation, quaffable. Nice smoke character coupled with some nutty malt flavors. I’m thinking about what cheese to have with it...what’s not to like? | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 21, 2009 On tap at Oldsmar. Very light aroma of campfire. Flavor was not what I expected. Much sweeter up front. Roasted nuts, caramel. Then a bit of smoke on the backend, and it even left a slightly sour finish. Interesting. goldtwins (4084), Nesconset, New York, USA
