Commercial Description:
This fantastic brew began its life as "Charlie", the third installment of the Brewer’s Select Series. It is now part of our seasonal lineup and will be released in the month of January. It is an intricate dark ale with a touch of smokiness. The rich malt flavor, crisp bitterness and smoke reach perfect equilibrium in this brew. At 7.5% abv, Fireside Ale will warm you up as the temperature drops.

Poured burnt sienna, with off-tan head. Nose was smoky malt, mild caramel, tannins, hops. Tastes malty, rauchy, with nut brown and hop flavors late. Remains malty with a subtle rauchy note and some hops and earthy notes. Solid.

Taste 2/9 Bottle. Looks: Clear iced tea with a thin foam. Aroma: Nice smoke, a little smoked meat and some alcohol. Taste: Nice drinkable smoke that finishes well. Would be nice for a food pairing calling for smoked beer.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark red-brown color with a medium sized khaki head. The aroma was tangy, sweetish and had a touch of smoke. The flavor was bitter, lightly roasty and had subtle undertones of wood and smoke. The finish was dry and malty with a lingering light smokiness. The alcohol was well hidden. Ok.

Bottle. Thanks to Jabic for the hookup! Deep brown pour, lingering foamy head. Flavor is lightly smoked malt, caramel malt, just a bit of dark chocolate. This is a really good beer because the smoke doesn’t overwhelm, just plays a background role. This would compare somewhat to a nut brown ale. Medium bodied, a bit sweet. Lingering mild smoke finish.

Dark coffee-colored brown with scant tan head. Peat smoke aroma is simple and inviting. Smooth low carbonation, quaffable. Nice smoke character coupled with some nutty malt flavors. I’m thinking about what cheese to have with it...what’s not to like?

On tap at Oldsmar. Very light aroma of campfire. Flavor was not what I expected. Much sweeter up front. Roasted nuts, caramel. Then a bit of smoke on the backend, and it even left a slightly sour finish. Interesting.

Tap named Charlie @ Rattle N Hum. Poured a very deep copper-brown color with a beige head. Aroma of smoky chocolate and sweet roasted malt. Sweet and roasted malt with coffee beans and a mild smoke. Medium bodied.
