Commercial Description:
This fantastic brew began its life as "Charlie", the third installment of the Brewer’s Select Series. It is now part of our seasonal lineup and will be released in the month of January. It is an intricate dark ale with a touch of smokiness. The rich malt flavor, crisp bitterness and smoke reach perfect equilibrium in this brew. At 7.5% abv, Fireside Ale will warm you up as the temperature drops.

From the tap poured a medium brown with a small head. Nice smokey aroma and flavor.

Pours a dark amber/ brown. Very smoked aroma and flavor. Crisp and smooth with a short lasting taste in the mouth. Good but not my style.

12 oz bottle. Brown/amber pour, with a small amount of white head. Some of it sticking to the sides, but pretty minimal. Some malt, peat, smoke aromas. Fairly lively mouthfeel. Earthy peat, malt and hop flavors. Some raisin and smoke. Pretty mellow. Alcohol is well hidden, not that it’s that high to begin with, but still. Finishes with some hop bitterness and lingering smoke. Not undrinkable, but kind of meh all around. Doesn’t make me want to have another, but worth trying.

12 oz bottle. Clear dark amber with a thin beige head. Nose is smoke, caramel and faint spice. Smooth medium body with a tingle. Taste is grapes, toffee, raisin and wood. Dry finish with some ash and allspice. This really grew on me. Nice balance of smoke, spice and sweet. Very drinkable; i could have easily had a few more.

Four pack purchased at Rozi’s in Lakewood. Aroma is malty with a little bit of caramel sweetness. Flavor is distinctly lacking in the smoke flavor. Really I can barely notice it. More like a good chewy malty lager. It is extremely tasty, regardless of how un-smokey it is.

Bottle from City Tavern in Winston. Not nearly as smokey as I thought/would have liked, but still a pretty solid, malty brah. Worth a try.

Draft at Redlight Redlight. 1st beer in a smoked horizontal draft selection. Nice smokiness with a rich maltiness in the nose. Deep ruby color, smallish head with sparse lacing. Light smoke flavor again with a good maltiness. Tingly finish.
