Commercial Description:
This fantastic brew began its life as "Charlie", the third installment of the Brewer’s Select Series. It is now part of our seasonal lineup and will be released in the month of January. It is an intricate dark ale with a touch of smokiness. The rich malt flavor, crisp bitterness and smoke reach perfect equilibrium in this brew. At 7.5% abv, Fireside Ale will warm you up as the temperature drops.

12 Oz bottle served in a clear pint glass. Poured a hazy brown with a good bit off murky head. It tasted like a lighter porter with a faint smoky finish. This was a pretty decent beer.

Bottle: The aroma consists of chocolate and smoke and a hint of nuttiness. It pours a hazy dark amber with a small off-white head. The flavor start with chocolate and caramel. The finish has some faint fruit and just a hint of smoke. Light bodied with very light carbonation.

Source: 12 oz bottle purchased at Bruisin Ales in Asheville.
Glass: Poured into a shaker glass.
Appearance: Poured a medium brown with red highlights and a one finger brown head.
Aroma: Smoke with a hint of caramel malt.
Flavor: Not as heavily smoked as I expected. Caramel malt and nuts were present, with a pleasant smokey finish.
Palate: Medium body with solid carbonation.
Overall: Better than I expected. Would like to have another.

Bottle. Appears a clear light brown with a wispy head. Aroma has toasted bread, raisins and grilled wood. Palate is on the thin side, with a lingering finish. Flavor is smoky and dark malt primarily, reminding me of a smoky-sweet brown ale. Altogether, however, this is a pretty tame smoked ale without enough complexity in the body to leave much of an impression.

Dark brown with an off-white head. Aroma is malts with a hint of smokiness. Flavor is slightly sweet malt with a very light smokiness. Overall, it’s pretty drinkable, but not especially exciting.

Decent sized light brown head of fine bubbles. Weak aroma with a bit of smoke and some sweet malts. Not very strong and not much in there. Color is a very dark copper brown. Zippy mouthfeel. Light toasted malts, tea leaves, smoked grains and a bit of dry hops. A hint of sourness also. Noticable alcohol warming but you really don’t taste it much. Finishes roasty and tangy witha light lingering smokiness. An ok brew.

Nice dark chestnut brown color and thick tan head. No real smokiness in the aroma. Malt and subtle smokiness in the taste. It leaves you wanting more smoke but has a decent lingering finish.
