Commercial Description:
This fantastic brew began its life as "Charlie", the third installment of the Brewer’s Select Series. It is now part of our seasonal lineup and will be released in the month of January. It is an intricate dark ale with a touch of smokiness. The rich malt flavor, crisp bitterness and smoke reach perfect equilibrium in this brew. At 7.5% abv, Fireside Ale will warm you up as the temperature drops.

Bottle on a cloudy day in Wisconsin. Good smoked aroma along with some malt in the mix. Dark amber body with off white head. Smoked flavor thought beer along with some caramel malt and dried fruits. Good sipping brew as I was visiting with relatives from Wis sitting on a peir overlooking Beaver Dam lake as the sun goes down.

Draft at Redlight. Fairly decent smokey beer, but not over the top. Pretty light, somewhat refreshing. Nice amount of malts and just a touch of smoke.

Bottled. Poured smokey amber with a swirly cap of beige head (later pours left a much better cap). The aroma picked up toasted caramel laced with light liquid smoke.. nutty notes and earth provided later accents.. a little too far on the sweet side, but well-done. The flavor also had a sweet overall impression, but it had an intriguing smoky/oaky sourness that rode the whole way through.. some earth and drier nutty character across the middle.. finished long with smoked peat over sweet caramel. Medium-bodied with higher carbonation on the palate.. smoke was moderate and decently balanced with the sweet malts.. a touch scratchy on the finish. This was a solid, tasty, easy-drinkin’ beer.

(12oz bottle) Pours a burgundy body with a small beige head. Aroma of toasted grain, light smoke, nuts, and chocolate. Flavor of raisins, light smoke, caramel malt, mild hops (earthy, herbal), and some chocolate.

A deep amber pour with light head and lace. Brown sugar, burnt malt, light abv and smoke. Medium toasted malt flavor with brown sugar and a medium bitter. Good carbonation but a bit thin. A pretty nice offering.

Pours a dark brown with amber highlights and a slightly off-white head. Sweet aroma with malts and smoke. Flavor has a strong presence with malts and just enough smoke. A bit cautious with with smoked beers, but this one had just enough smoke.

good stuff. the malts are clean even with the smokiness of the overall presence. the hops are mild yet satisfying. there is a decent body and rest comes together overall.

The aroma is sweet and malty first and smokey second which I like. It’s also got a touch of fruitiness. The appearance is mahogany with an average head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is smooth. Overall it is a good smoke to me but smoke lovers will not think highly of it.
