Commercial Description:
To honor 14 years of making craft beer we decided to brew a wheat wine. This unfiltered brew is made with over 50% wheat to give it a distinctly spicy character. Enjoy it now, or if you have the patience, give it some time in your cellar. When you are ready, expect to find notes of tart wheat and honey with crisp bitterness and carbonation. Recipe by Head Brewer Chris Wilson and Brewer Jeff Musselman.

Just overwhelmingly boozy, to the point where it was difficult to finish the glass. I suspect this will be waaaay better after some time in the cellar, so that’s what I’m doing with the other 3.

This bottle has restored my faith in wheatwines! Pours an unassuming hazy gold body with a small almond head. Aroma is fruity, with melon, orange pulp, banana, and lemon. Twangy wheat and some booze complete the aroma. Body is medium full with a silky carbonation. Taste opens with a wheat twang, but the fruitiness quickly takes centrestage. Melon, banana, orange, and lemon are here and there into the finish. Some peppery alcohol, but not as hot as expected. Damned good wheatwine here!

12oz bottle from Liquor Depot (Tampa, FL). Pours a hazy amber copper color with one finger white head that settles quickly. Aroma is sweet and malty with notes of phenol, honey, caramel, floral esters, banana. Flavor is sweet and boozy with notes of banana, honey, phenol, caramel, wheat, yeast, some hints of spice. Generally medium body with a boozy wheat finish.

12 oz. bottle from Ludlow Wines. Pours a hazy orange-amber with a medium off-white head. Aroma of wheat, alcohol, banana, clove, spices, fruits. More of the same in the flavor, with a lot of booze. Shawn has a good point, in that this might need to age for a while first. Not particularly balanced, and disappointing.

12oz bottle pours hazy nearly opaque copper with orange hues and tan head. The aroma is big bold wheat followed by lighter notes of honey and grain. The taste is bold bowl you over wheat just everywhere. The wheat just sits there are laughs at your crushed palate. Behind the wheat are notes of light skinned fruity esters like apricots and banana (? yes, banana esters) to go along with a note of grains, cloves and a slippery slope of sticky sweet honey. Bold in your face brew. I can’t wait to see how this matures in a couple of years.

Hazy gold. Small white head. Typical strong wheat. All the hefe elements with some booze. Medium/full body, softly balanced carbonation. Unimpressive, perhaps it will improve with some cellar time.

Bottle from phaleslu- thanks Peter! Notes of banana, clove, spices, booze. Creamy smooth. Vodka. A little overpowering. Could maybe use a little age. Not my fave.
