Jun 3, 2009 Updated: Jun 28, 2009Draft at Redlight Redlight. Pours a lightly translucent, dark chestnut brown color. A small head of taupe colored foam settles to a swirly film with a skinny ring around the rim. Hardly any lacing remains. The nose starts off with darkly toasted, grainy rye and wheat malt. Scorched caramel lends sweetness to the aroma, with bitterness seemingly stemming from the burn on the grain rather than hops. Flavors follow suit, contrasting notes of sweet burnt caramel, toasty biscuit, and various dried grains showing as the main focus. Medium bodied, semi-dry, and just beyond moderately carbonated, the palate neither disappoints or impresses. Eh, decent beer, but it’s far from mind blowing.

May 31, 2009 12oz. Bottle: Aroma of cocoa, spices, slight molasses, malts, and a hint of pepper. Poured brown/deep orange in color with a small, tan head that lasted throughout. Hazy. Slightly sparkling. Flavor is medium sweet. Tastes of spices, cocoa, malts, molasses, light wood, brown sugar, light yeast, slight toffee, slight caramel, and a hint of dark ripe fruit. Medium body. Tingly, then lightly chalky, dry texture. Average carbonation. Sweet, cocoa, malt, slight spice finish is chalky and dry.

May 21, 2009 Pours a translucent brownish amber with a smaller bubbly off white head that laced. Aroma of peppery notes, banana, toffee, toasted malt, earthy, floral and lots of spicy yeast esters. Flavor of the same. A little thin. But still well done.

May 19, 2009 Dark brown with a small head. Aroma like a Malta with some spice, pretty nice actually. Taste is sweet with some bubble gum and spice. Some earthyness and nice carbonation. Close to a saison. Nicely done.

May 17, 2009 Bottle Pours Murky brown with a big light tan head. The head is foamy and lasting. Has a good aroma of malts and pepper. I got a little molasses but very subtle. Has a decent carbonation. The mouthfeel is good. Flavor is balanced very well not too much hops or malts. Has a good sweetness. Has a medium body and a texture this is a little heavier than watery. Has a good strong finish and a great aftertaste. This is a real good beer.
