The nose is sweet, citrusy and fruity, some ripe navel orange. Flavor has a nice sweetness with a mild grassy bitterness, some citrusy hops. Not as much flavor as I would like. Resinous coating bitterness. areyouinning (72), North Carolina, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 3, 2009 Bottle. Lovely copper body with a finger of dense off-white head. Aromas have a sweet apple juice base to them with some swirling hops... grass and a hint of citrus here and there. Still, the hop aromas are hard to pick out and inconsistent. I like the flavor of this, in spite of the weak nose. It is a pretty good harvest type IPA, but would get kicked around pretty good by an American IPA with some attitude. The apple/caramel malt mixes well with some grass and resin (but it doesn’t really go so far as a pine flavor). JCB (1768), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 2, 2009 12oz bottle from Sam’s, Durham. A handsome pour of slightly hazy amber with crisp carbonation. Nose is grassy, with a modest malt sweetness. Strange but there’s little about the beer that resembles the autumnal wet hop brews I expect. Certainly an enjoyable variation on an IPA - with plenty o’ centennial if I’m not mistaken - but not the distinctively dank, pungent hops I was hoping for. Decent. keepersj12 (801), Sicklerville, New Jersey, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Oct 2, 2009 This seems to be mislabeled. Tastes more like an Oktoberfest beer to me. Light caramel earthy aroma. Pours clear amber with a big fluffy head that laces nicely. Flavor is more like a marzen with a big hop bite. Nice dry finish. Solid beer from a good brewery. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 28, 2009 Bottle. Pours an amber body with an off white head. Spicy hop resins, very earth y and herbal with a lighter pine and floral notes. A hint of honey and citrus then drying bitter and resinous. Nice. corby112 (741), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

Pours a clear dark golden amber/light copper color with golden orange hues when held to a light source and a two finger frothy off-white head. Good retention, slowly fading into a lasting cap/ring that leaves a good bit of chunky lacing in it’s wake.
Earthy skunky hops dominate the aroma with a bit of citrus and pine along with a sweet caramel malt presence. Since this is a harvest ale and the hops are really fresh I was expecting this to smell much more floral and hoppy with resinous oil notes but it is a bit mild.
Bitter piney hops up front with sweet citrus notes, mostly grapefruit, and some sticky dry pine flavor. Sweet caramel malt backbone with some biscuit and graham cracker which kind of takes away from the pleasantness of the hops up front leading into a dry finish. This one might be too well-balanced for it’s own good although it is still pretty hoppy. I just wish the malt profile was toned down a bit.
