| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 27, 2009 Pours a transparent orange amber with a clingy, well-lacing off-white head. Aroma of fresh, grassy citrusy hops with some soft pale malty sweetness. Starts with pretty good fullness and light malty sweetness with a very resiny, bitter, and almost acidic hop bite before a drier grassy, slightly doughy bittersweet finish with some lingering toastiness. An ok IPA, but could use more balance.

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 29, 2009 Thin dense head of fine bubbles. Settles slowly to a thin wisp of foam on top. Initial skunky hops aroma that dissipates into a nice citrusy hops aroma with some spruce. Light tea leaves also. Color is a hazy dark umber. Bitter flavor with lots of grains and tea again. More sprucy hops and a decent amount of sugary sweetness. Not a great melding of flavors. Finishes sweet and bitter. Not a brew I would recommend. blipp (1664), Newark, New Jersey, USA

The flavor has a decent hoppy bite, with some fruity and floral notes. Pretty good. smcolw (344), Wayland, Massachusetts, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Nov 28, 2009 The head starts two-finger thick. Slightly hazy, dark amber color. Very delicate Belgian-style lace left on the glass
An excellent blend of pale and crystal malts with a notable floral hop bouquet--very inviting.
Nice malt start which is quickly covered with a biting hop bitterness, like a true IPA. The aftertaste is different in that it starts with a crystal malt (British Bitter flavor) sweetness at the swallow. The remainder of the aftertaste is sharp, bittering hop. Very complex. Great body--similar to whole milk with an average level of carbonation. This is a special beer--I’m placing it in my top IPA’s.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 27, 2009 12oz bottle from Chevy Chase in DC. Pours a mostly clear amber color with a creamy, medium-sized white head and decent lacing. Aroma is caramel, grain, black tea, and mild floral hops. Flavor is pleasant but really not too hoppy. Black tea and caramel malt dominate, along with some grain and floral/citrus hops. Medium body with a mildly resinous mouthfeel and average carbonation. HopBackDoc (394), Hatboro, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 26, 2009 Pours a copper color with medium white head. Hoppy aroma. Flavor was an immediate hop bite that was slightly mellowed by a caramel malt. There was a dry and satisfying finish. Very drinkable and hoppy beer. branspra (219), Arlington, Virginia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 24, 2009 Bottle. Pours a cloudy, amber color with a moderate, frothy white head. Lacing is fairly strong. Aromas of spruce, citrus, hay, and malts. Mouthfeel is sticky throughout. Tastes of heavy bitterness, medium sourness, and light sweetness. Overall a very nice session beer for an IPA. I will purchase this again. jasonp (1509), Sterling/Dulles, Virginia, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Nov 22, 2009 Bottle. Pours an attractive slightly hazy amber with an off-white head. Aroma is surprisingly subdued - earthy, herbal hops with a hint of berry and toastiness. The overabundance of carmel/toffee clutters-up the hop character of the beer. First are notes of malty caramel then an ample woody, earthy hop character. Lingering notes of pine resin and grapefruit. Malt sweetness is minimal. The body is full and round with a nice creamy texture and moderate carbonation.
