Pours dark brown/blackish with thick creamy beige / mocha like head.
Aroma chocolate malts, with plenty of sweet vanilla and warming bourbon nose.
Taste has an amazing palate of whiskey barrel and wood, some vanilla sweetness, chocolate and some cocoa powder. Faint coffee remaining under the oak / bourbon overall goodness.

Pours a coal black, dark as night black with a creamy mocha colored head that leaves a nice bit of lacing. Pungent aroma of figs, brandy and molasses, very fresh with malty goodness. Flavor is full-bodied and rich with bold bittersweet chocolate notes, some fresh pipe tobacco, figs, brandy and a hint of dark strong French roast coffee. Finishes with a hint of licorice and some faint wisps of vanilla. Full bodied and thick, this is an excellent winter warmer. Weyerbacher is quickly becoming one of my favorite brewers. baraciisch (156), USA

Flavor has the bourbon notes, but not obnoxiously so. Lots of sweetness, fruit and chocolate. Needs a bit of bitterness in the finish. kiefdog (1637), Tampa, Florida, USA

Intense black pour with a very carbonated tan head. Aromas of chocolate, roasty malt, some bourbon and vanilla. Nice thick mouthfeel with a warming bourbon burn as the temp increases. Nice smooth chocolate and coffee flavor up front with a solid whiskey burn at the end. Probably my favorite of the east coast brews my buddy brought out west. darn1207 (619), Tallahassee, Florida, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Feb 17, 2009 Bottle at Akkurat, Stockholm; vintage 2006 or 2007 Black like the centre of the universe, with a huge and thick head. It has a very nice aroma of chocolate malt, roasted malt, vanilla; very creamy aroma. Good body structure, surely less thick than many American samples, quite smooth mouthfeel; the chocolate and caramel flavor are well mixed together, with moderate sweetness; there is very light liquorice and vanilla, and almost no roasted malt (for me, a good thing). I find that the final is lacking a bit of bitterness, of depth; not even really long enough. Anyway, a highly enjoyable beer.
