Deep black color pour with a creamy tan head. Aroma of roasted malt and barley, coffee, and just a hint of vanilla and wood. Flavor is much the same, starting sweet with a roasty, slightly bitter finish. Good stuff! aplusbreaks (330), , Colorado, USA

Pours dark brown, with a non existent head, almost an oily surface. Aromas of roasted malt, bourbon, some coffee, and a hint of vanilla. Flavors are similar, sweet malts up front with a smooth whiskey finish. Although the palate is a little thin, this is a very smooth beer that is going down easy. Thanks again Dan. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 12, 2009 Bottle, sale at Sam’s, though this is a good deal anyway. More roasty barley and coffee notes than expected, though in a good way. The vanilla/oak flavors aren’t overwhelming, but they’re definitely there. This is a very solid and drinkable Impy Stout, and for better or worse, it’s not overwhelmed by the oak aging. Especially worth $2.99. jmm635 (269), Havertown, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 10, 2009 Poured a gloopy black with a large, creamy brown head with lots of falling bubbles. Is there anything sexier than a great pour of an Imperial Stout? Aroma was oak and whisky, but some nice chocolate and roasted coffee if you dig around. Hoppy bitterness up front, then finishes smooth and silky with a long finish. forsides (86), union, New Jersey, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 10, 2009 From MrChopin via trade. Pour was dark with plenty of ruby highlights. A short, almost tan head formed and quickly evaporated. The aroma was roasted malt, light chocolate and some vanilla. Lacking much in terms of the hops. The flavor was a nice blend of chocolate, roasted malt, vanilla and a bit of wood. Above average mouthfeel. Good but lacking definition.
