Commercial Description:
This is an incredibly intriguing ale is made by aging our Old Heathen Imperial Stout in oak barrels that were used for making fine Kentucky bourbon! The result is an extraordinary, dark, and mysterious stout whose very essence has been enhanced. The aroma is filled with vanilla, cocoa, and roasted coffee beans. This silky-smooth brew has notes of oak, whiskey, roasted barley and vanilla that meld together on the tongue to create an incredible sensation. Heresy is released in February.

Bottle at bockyhorsey’s pad. Pours black with a faint brown head. Smells of oak and chestnuts. Tastes of both with strong elements of baker’s cocoa and coffee. Not a huge beer, but smooth and well balanced.

A- Dark brown/black hue, minimal biege head mostly dissipating, not much lacing S- Dark fruits, brown sugar and molasses, licorice, alcohol T- Initial taste is wood and bourbon, vanilla, raisins, plums, coffee, alcohol M- Light/medium bodied, watery texture, low carbonation D- Decent but somewhat uninspiring IRS, lacks boldness and complexities found is many of the bigger offerings in this genre

This beer was a great surprise from Weyerbacher. Thanks kiefdog for the share. Pours a deep brown/black with a slight khaki head. The aroma is booze, dark malt, vanilla, chocolate, and some hop character. Flavor is chocolate malt, vanilla, and a deep oaky/ whiskey character. Smooth as silk and goes down very easy at 8.2%. Amazing beer, hands down the best from Weyerbacher.

12 oz. bottle poured into a snifter. Pours pitch black with a frothy, tan head that dissipated quickly but leaves a thin layer to the finish. Leaves decent lacing when swirled in the snifter. Nice subtle chocolaty aroma with hints of alcohol. Well balanced sweet malty flavor, some roasted malts, dark fruits and chocolate. Finishes dry with a nice warming. Full bodied. Incredibly smooth. Medium carbonation.

I broke a 3 day cleansing fast with a bottle of this. Vinous aroma. A fairly light bodied and sweet stout that reminded me of Lion.

Tulip from bottle. Pours a thick oily brown. Smells of espresso, dark chocolate, some vanilla and whiskey. Tan head with delicate lacing. Espresso hits the tongue, with dark chocolate, vanilla, some dark red fruits. Clingy chocolate in the aftertaste, with a smooth foam mouth feel.

Bottle...pitch black pour with a rocky tan head. Very dry, oaky nose on this with the usual suspects of dark fruits, dark malts and dark chocolate. What separates this is the woodsiness that imparts itself so wonderfully though. Full body, sticky and oily. Dark chocolate, black cherries and some vanilla bean noted in the flavor...finishes dry and woodsy.
