Heavy aromas of caramel, roasted malts, chocolate with hints of vanilla and alcohol. Flavor is heavy on vanilla, with some hints of caramel and coffee coming through, with a bitter finish. Mouthfeel is very smooth and soft. Not a bad brew. Skeegle (499), Maryland, USA

The vanilla and oak is nearly overwhelming in this one. Very bourbon tasting. Much like smokey wood. beautiful lacing, a dark brown head, and nearly intransparant viscous black body make for an excellent appearance. Very thin mouthfeel and nearly no presence on the swallow. And the vanilla. Eeech, this is a rough one. Erdinger2003 (127), Ames, Iowa, USA

A fine offering from Weyerbacher, whose beers are hit and miss. The aroma on this beer was earthy, oaky, bourbon, and sugar. Appearance is deep black with a thick tan head. Mouthfeel is suprisingly smooth. Flavors have a great mixture of roasted malts, bourbon, vanilla, oaken earthyness and molasses. A very nice beer. fredjaz (108), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA

Nice roasted malt and chocolate aroma hiding under some oak and vanilla. Nice oak and vanilla entry that gives way to a nice roasted chocolate flavor. Real nice, I can’t wait to try the older bottle. Thanks to Ryan. 06-07 rating: 7-4-8-3=3.7
05-06 bottle from drewbeerme. Quite a difference between these releases. This one was much more mellow on the bourbon spice and contained strong vanilla in the aroma and flavor. Chocolate roastiness still dominates the finish, but it is more mellow and works better in conjunction with the barrel characteristics. Very nice. Thanks Drew, this was a good surprise. 05-06 Rating: 8-4-8-3-16=3.9 bigbobdog (39), USA
