Commercial Description:
This is an incredibly intriguing ale is made by aging our Old Heathen Imperial Stout in oak barrels that were used for making fine Kentucky bourbon! The result is an extraordinary, dark, and mysterious stout whose very essence has been enhanced. The aroma is filled with vanilla, cocoa, and roasted coffee beans. This silky-smooth brew has notes of oak, whiskey, roasted barley and vanilla that meld together on the tongue to create an incredible sensation. Heresy is released in February.

A pitch black beer with a disappearing brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of alcohol and chocolate. The flavor is dominated by chocolate, but also some roasted notes, leading to a smooth but dry finish. The alcohol is very well hidden in the flavor, but gives it a nice body. A nice Imperial Stout.

Bottled. Very black, firm brownish head. Strong wood aroma. Sweet with notes of vanilla. licorice and coffee. Extreme oak barrel flavour going like a bulldozer across other flavours diminishing them to gravel. I very much like oak barrel beers, but this beer has no balance whatsoever. Interesting as a prototypical barrel aged beer, but leaves a lot of room for improvement.

Bottled. Opaque black colour, maybe very dark brown. Small brown head. Strong alcohol (whiskyish) aroma along with some hints of roasted malts, coffee and toffee. Strong chocolate mixed with whisky and some roasted malts. Aftertaste is where alcohol comes in. Very smooth and tasteful Impy stout.

Near black colour, flat and oily-looking. Beefy, oily aroma like Indonesian soy sauce. Soft and sweet with light bourbon nuances. Dark chocolate, minerals, leaves and muscovado sugars on the palate.
