Aroma is rather bland. Caramel with only the slightest hint of hop bitterness. Where did all the dry-hopping go? Flavor much the same, apa-ish for sure. Hop character that is present is very soapy, and harsh. Third time I’ve given this a shot, I give up. BiochemProf (53), Boone, North Carolina, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 5, 2007 Bottle. Dark amber, with a thick cream colored head. Astringent, bitter citrus-pine aroma. Heavy, and harsh. This beer has a significant amount of hop bitterness. Duh. But, despite the heaviness, the finish seems dry and short.
It definitely grows on you. StewardofGondor (1934), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 5, 2007 Semi-hazed and dulled amber-brass in color with a punchy, spongy, khaki grey cap for the head. Aroma is infused with honeyed pine combs, nectar on grapefruit rind and caramel cubes rubbing over it all. Marigolds are overcome by a cascade and centennial sugar gloss. A hint of puce tangerine skin and sulfur sneak in later on. Bright orangey pulp lays in like mandarin Sunny D. Supple carbonation lets the orange cotton blossom carnauba wax close the distance between the roof of the mouth and all open air pockets. Tangerines and peaches get a curt brush of reality, coupled with a scented market flavor from being licked for an extra humming bitterness. Stark, sharpie dryness appeals at the tongue’s hatch. The peach and mango complex becomes creamier and lighter as the assertive traits mellow out. Tropical jolly rancher assortments gather for the finish, with a bitter mango butter flavor for the finale. johnykat (65), Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 1, 2007 Had this beer in a bottle from the brewery. Smell is pretty hoppy, and the taste is the same. Nice balance of hop and malts. Some carmel taste as others have mentioned. The hops were a bit too green for me, as it was the citrus/pine taste was not as enjoyable as I would have liked. It was not the amount of hops, but their taste that threw me off a bit. The ending sip was kind of dry, which was a little surprising. Storm (2685), Amager, Denmark

Lovely hoppy aroma with some notes of caramel and high-alpha hops. Flavour of bitter hops and caramel. Ends up bitter and hoppy. joergen (8635), Frederiksberg, Denmark
