Weyerbacher Hops Infusion

Amber/copper pour under a medium light tan head that subsides quickly, but leaves a nice lace. Hop dominant aroma of citrus with some floral notes. Pretty bitter right from the get go. Malt never gets a chance, but if you swirl around in your mouth for a while, you can pick up a faint sweetness. The astringency overpowers any attempt at fullness on the palate. Finishes very dry and bitter, leaving a metallic flavor that is quite persistent. Just too one dimensional.

Clear amber. Exploding off white sponge of a head. Bitter aroma of sharp, past ripe citrus, flowers, tropical fruits, a bit of lightly sweet malt. Same flavors with some pine resin and earth. More malt evident as it warms. Dry, bitter finish and aftertaste. Medium, balanced body. Refreshing IPA, great for summer.

Apricot pour. Massive, willing, rocky head. Excellent lacing. At first the aromas are difficult to pick out, over time though they become more apparent. Quite dry and muddled for an IPA. The malts are cracker thin and pasty. Sweetness is almost non existant from the grains. Dry ale yeast and a high attenuater i should guess, no esters. Saaz hop aroma. German and Czech hoppiness abounds. Nothing flowery in the american sense of hops. Very green peppery. Green Thai Chiles. A few animal crackers. Flavors lack the depth necessary to make this an excellent beer. Mostly vague and powdery. Astringent bitterness. Chemical aftertaste. Honestly not all that great I had really hoped for more. G

When it comes to very hoppy ales... this one lands in the middle. It has a mild citrusy taste, not overpowering, a strong thick head. sticky aftertaste. a good brew, but go for hop wallop if you want a good hopped ale.

pours a hazy amber/light brown, with a short lasting head. Aroma is citrusy, taste slightly bitter up front, slighty biscuity, with a smooth long lasting bitterness in the finish. Also caught some metallic flavors, thinking that this bottle may have been quite old before bought.

This is the newly redone version with the fancy new packaging and all that. Strong piney and citrusy aroma that still hints at a strong malt background. Flavor is pleasing at first with lots of citrus but it starts to become astringent as I continue drinking it. It’s enjoyable but not spectacular which has been my experience so far with this company.

Perfect beer for showing someone what hops do for a beer’s flavor & mouthfeel. Pours a deep amber color, with medium head. Strong hop flavor (of course), but the bitterness doesn’t impart a dry characteristic on the palate. Overall, a very nice beer, but not outstanding. Worth trying.

I had the new Hops Infusion yesterday and it definately build on the original mix of hoppy flavors but with more balance. Before it had a bit of an astringent nature and now it has more of an even feel to it. I think its the malts thats providing the balance.
