Commercial Description:
Brewed with Pumpkin and Spices(Cinnamon,Nutmeg,Cardamom,Cloves). This 8.0% ABV pumpkin ale is heartier, spicier, and more caramelly and pumpkiny than its faint brethren! Perfect finisher on a cool autumn night, or match it up with a slice of pumpkin pie and fresh whipped cream. If you don't agree this is the mother of all pumpkin ales, then you just don't like mothers!

Bottle. Copper bodied, light white head that subsides to a ring. Aroma is obviously dominated by nutmeg, cloves, and cinnamon, but there are also undertones of banana, flowers, subtle citrus, and caramel. Flavor is cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, slight banana and vanilla, moderate caramel, almost maple syrup, and a spicy-alcoholic finish. The palate isn’t really heavy though its not light either, the carbonation is mostly creamy but has a bite eventually, and this is definitely a beer for colder weather as is it strongly warming.

Pours a reddish amber with a small white head. Aroma is heavily spiced, with lots of cinnamon and nutmeg, and the pumpkin is most evident. Flavor is realy nice, much what i would expect, spice and pumpkin, but not artificial or overdone, just really tasty. 8% ABV is hidden extraordinarily well. Palate isn’t thick, but makes it very drinkable- not a flaw by any means. One of the better beers I’ve had of this style, one of Weyerbacher’s better efforts.

12 oz bottle served in a clear pint glass. Poured a darker amber/orange color with about two fingers of quickly dissipating tan head; this brew left very little lacing on the glass. Nose is the finishing touch of any Thanksgiving Day feast: delicious pumpkin pie. The cinnamon and nutmeg are prominent, along with smooth, sweet caramel laced malt. Taste is pumpkin pie, all spices included, and caramel. Never had pumpkin ale before, as many friends tell me they are not that good, but this was one tasty beer. Another hit from the Weyerbacher crew!

I thought the dogfish punkin was the king of pumpkin beer until I tried this. The flavors really jump out. The spices, the nutmeg, the cinnamon, you can really taste them all. And its not as over powering as the Dogfish. My favorite pumpkin beer thus far.

I’ve never had Pumking, but until I’ve had that, I’m going to say this is the best pumpkin beer that I’ve had! Tasted like a pumpkin pie, along with a good amount of cinnamon and other spices.

(Rating #2413)

Thanks daknole. Pours a hazy dark amber. Thin, dissipating white head, some lace. Abundant, lasting aromas of nutmeg, clove, and orange peel. Flavor adds some caramel malts to the spice profile, brown sugar; also allspice, nuts, almost a meatiness here. There is a pumpkin earthiness underneath it all, but the spices are prevalent. Medium body, potent warming mouthfeel.

Pumpkin beer ain’t my thing. Poured orange with white head. Aroma of pumpkin and cinnamon. Pumpkin with a cinnamon twist flavor.
